Bet that gave someone a headache.

Well personally I have my own stupid system of identification for larger cars.

I now suddenly want a Suffix-A Rangie Classic and a Series 1 all of a sudden. I’d love to find a Suffix-A or B Classic and restromod it into basically a 4.6 or maybe 5.0 CSK style 3 door, with a later 90s style grille and bumper, so it has the lovely bodywork of a 3 door classic but with the feel of the later ones.

So its an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, that’s a plus, but it’s got dumb wheels that are tasteless on it, so that’s a negative, but it’s a V8 Vantage, oh, it’s an auto and it’s been personalised. Oh dear. CP.

I’m sorry, you thought I didn’t know that the Defender didn’t have a ladder frame anymore? I thought that was pretty damn obvious from what I’d said in how that didn’t make a Defender a Defender. But fuck it I can’t be asked to go in meaningless circles to please your strange logic.

You know what? I don’t give to shits about your opinion. You don’t want other people’s point of view, you just want you narrow point of view justifying. I’m not gonna, because I clearly am not having a discussion, it’s a NO I’M RIGHT AND YOUR WRONG argument that does nothing. You don’t want to hear anything but your

I’m not derailing, I’m coming from a viewpoint of somehow has lived around and driven many Defenders, helped fix them and modify them, they aren’t that special. A body on frame build isn’t unique, the character of the car is its enduring capabilities. I love the old Defender, and yes, it has lost that one feature, one

Since you clearly don’t read my comments through, I’m just gonna ask this straight up:

The Defender was about going offroad. The modifications were actually just something that all 4x4s tend to get. If people can modify the Jeep Cherokee XJ, which is also monocoque and is quite easily modified, then the Defender will be a challenge, but one people will have to adapt to. It is now a monocoque. Live with

Land Rover has done well with it all things considered, I’ve yet to drive a Jaguar and thinkHang about... this Jaguar is a Land Rover.” Or vice versa, they seemingly have made it quite a versatile platform. From what I can tell, D7 is being replaced shortly, anyway. I have noticed the similarities between the E-pace

Because your arguments didn’t exactly challenge the lack of a body on frame. Except for character.

No, it’s that your counter is swearing at me rather than actually having a discussion or something over it. You escalated this, I didn’t. Don’t pin this on me as if I’m insulting you, my argument is not built on swearing. Because that just makes me think you’ve ran out of points to counter and you’re scared that I

Thanks for correcting me, they do say you learn a new thing every day. I was under the impression the D7 was reserved for LR stuff, Jag sort of used a smaller platform with the XF, XE and F-Pace that the also Rangie Velar used.

Wow. That was totally a proportionate reaction, because swearing at me makes you more right?

Isn’t the XJ a monocoque? If it’s been improved, and the old Defender was frankly shit in loads of areas, how is that a bad thing? It’s gotten better at fording, has more ground clearance, a much better payload and still can do all the old Defenders tricks with the fantastically short front and rear overhangs. The old

So Defenders one characteristic was its body on frame build?

Fair enough, but that market has been long ago taken away from the Defender, if they’ve sacrificed that for torsional rigidity and better load capacity as well as safety and on road behaviour despite improving the offroad capabilities, then that’s fine by me. It’s a trade off that actually I can see being challenged

The Defender doesn’t use the same platform as the E-Pace, which uses the MLA platform as do the Discovery Sport and Evoque, as that is transverse engined and actually pretty unrelated. The new Defender uses a heavily modified D7 platform which is what the Discovery 5, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport use, called the

I like the new one, but I still appreciate the old one. But the old one wasn’t very good, at being a car. Sure, it had good approach angles and breakover angles, but when I wanted one a couple year back and test drove a 110 station wagon with the 300tdi, I was completely put off them. Maybe as a second or third car,

The old one could do that, but I saw it done about twice. Not really necessary in the 21st century. Body on frame is good, but not exactly the end all of off-road use or utility.
