I’ve driven a couple of PHEVs, I quite like them. I’m wanting a new Defender in a couple of years, apparently the PHEV one is just around the corner, if it’s anything like the Rangie Sport PHEV, I want it.

I always lock it. I’ve had people break into my car, but because it was locked they had to break a window and set the alarm off, which gave me time to react. It’s a instinctive thing I do automatic the second I’ve gotten out. I even accidentally locked my great aunt in the car once just because I automatically locked…
I have a higher up at GM who I blackmail. They know what they did...
I’ve seen a couple Dodge Rams, F series and the rare Chevy, but the Ford Ranger is sort of common. Technically American, but, like the cortina and Capri, not.
Let’s make the X7 have an even larger grille...
I appreciate the britishisms.
I was meaning it should of come earlier, as it seems to be cheap and obvious.
Good to know. When I see a Ford Ranger, I automatically assume twat driver and prepare to have someone tailgate me. Sort of glad I have a massive trailer hitch/towbar on my Rangie.
Makes sense, good point. Win the wife, win the household.
Basically my point. I was parked next to a F-250, which somehow made my Range Rover Classic look positively tiny, thinking you could fit so many batteries into that it could have a range of at least 1000 miles, ignoring the shite aero. You wouldn’t even loose any cargo space.
They made the mustang EV crossover thing, personally I would of started with the F-150. Bigger market, less fans to piss off. Take that battery tech and motors, add to an F-150, how hard could that be?
Sad now one has just basically taken a current competent design and just added some batteries. I spoke to some JLR engineers and apparently the Defender is getting BEV, so why doesn’t ford just make a BEV version of the F-150, I mean how much range do you really need? Just shove some batteries up it’s arse and be done…
No problem, I am to make people loudly snort whilst laughing at work.
Yes, a state-of-the-art system know as: taking a screenshot on my iPhone and using the marker to create a 99%* accurate** artists*** impression of the next Escalade.
Thank you.
I don’t have a fix for that, but I’m certain that’s more of a geographical problem than anything else. The US is pretty damn large, I imagine it is going to take time to build up a big dealership network for JLR across it. Plus getting new owners in is hard, period, especially if you’re in a very competitive market…
Bar the diesels having a manufacturing issue in 2018 for the balancing rod going wrong, they seem to be pretty good engines. I’ve driven a couple, a XE and a Disco sport and they were quite nice. Turbo was a bit slow, but I don’t expect speed from a base car or SUV. I’ve yet to drive the petrol ones, I’d quite like…
So a luxury manufacturer has less dealerships than one the largest manufacturers? I admit that might be a problem, but I have no idea about the spread of them statewide or elsewhere. In the U.K. I’ve yet to go to a large town or city that doesn’t have one, so my view is probably horribly warped. Since America is JLRs…
The Defender uses the ingenium 4 pots, they’ve mostly been pretty reliable, so I’m assuming they’ll be better than your average JLR stuff. Also British dealerships seem to be far less nightmarish than stateside ones. Hell, my local got me a part for my 26 year old car for free, even helped install it.
