The disco 1 and 2 are good, but I own a Range Rover Classic, which is the same as them but nicer, a discovery 3 is nicer still. Plus they aren’t that expensive and are common, so parts won’t be an issue. Basically it’s more capable than the L322 in a lot of areas.

A diesel is really the more realistic option too, the AJ-V8s are actually pretty solid, I wouldn’t touch a BMW one, they were just shit, but their fuel economy is just terrible. I’ve seen plenty of Jaguar XJs with that engine with over 250k, so logically the engine is fine. It’s the electronics that worry me, my dad

For me, SUV wise, I prioritise off-road and towing and like payload and stuff over sportiness. As much as I like sporty SUVs, I prefer more focused stuff. I’d like a L322, or maybe a Discovery 3, as they are slower, but they also blow the cayenne out of the water when it comes to payload, towing cap and overall

I just can’t stand the looks. Sure the mark 1 cayenne is a surprisingly capable machine, but it is just not as good looking as more popular and cheaper alternatives. I’m happy dealing with Range Rover problems because it’s a good looking and capable car. It’s just looks basically, plus that and the Porsche interior is

I thought that was an unfounded rumour because Jaguar had a shitty 2019. I doubt they’d dump a company that has cost a lot and is actually doing okay-ish going on fine-ish.

Okay, but the Defender was based on a much older design than the G, hadn’t been constantly updated, hell, the last thing major change was a new dashboard in 2012. The original Defender was never properly designed, it was a combination of parts Land Rover basically just slapped together until the basic 90/110 design

There are Austin Marina door handles on a Range Rover Classic, with silver trim so they look less shit. They actually work just fine, I’m not bothered. The drivers door handle on my ‘94 has been replaced with a normal Marinas handle, it’s solid black and looks a bit shit. Slightly annoys me, but not enough to get a

I imagine the last ones running in Australia would be the L-series diesel manuals. They are pretty dependable. I don’t trust any older autos, period. I’ve yet to drive an automatic car built before 2001 that didn’t immediately make me hate the car. I have a project Classic Range Rover that I’m planning to manual swap,

The auto transmissions were shite, so yeah. In markets where they were offered only with the auto they are probably mostly ether with broken transmissions or the KV6 they came with has broken as well. In European markets, where the L-series diesel and K-series petrol four cylinders were offered with a nice manual,

I don’t think my tastes are that eccentric overall. I mostly like 80/90s Japanese and german stuff, American muscle and pretty much most eras of British cars. If it’s got a V8, manual transmission and looks good, I probably like it.

Well if it’s in America that’s already a boat ride away to search. Great. I sort of wish I had a spy satellite that just looks for rare and unusual cars, just to save time. Hmm. Just had an idea to start a kickstarter all of a sudden...

Thank you for the link. I shall probably spend the rest of my day trying to find out where I can find a four door 911. Realistically I think the only affordable/ attainable four door Porsche’s are preowned first gen Cayennes. I wonder how bad they can be...

Yeah, crackpipe at that money and it’s got the classic someone else’s project feeling to me. Maybe at half the amount I’d consider it then just buy an XJ because I have no imagination and much prefer them.

Is that Porsche real? Because I didn’t know I wanted that and now I very much want one. Also yes, I’m also getting strange DS vibes from it, I think the roofline is very similar. Rear hinged doors are also adding to the overall cool factor here.

Yeah, I don’t buy SUVs for speed, but because I like offroading, and, I won’t lie, I love the view from the command chair of a Range Rover, it’s intoxicating with unearned power, I like the fact I can take all the shit I need for camping, plus humans, dogs and still have loads of room spare, having a big boot so I can

My argument is, you want speed? Don’t buy an SUV.

You did, but they were rare. Not impossible to see, but apparently they are more popular in California and the upper level east coast. In the U.K. it’s surprisingly balanced between the 3 door and 5 door options. My dad had a 3 door when I was growing up, that inspired me to get one when I was looking for a first car.

All the 3 doors were hardbacks, like mine, or soft tops that folded onto the diagonal c pillar. I want one for mine, as they are modular, but they go for stupid money. I try to take the top off as much as I can, especially when I’m off-roading, but it has to be left at home so I do need to look at the weather and

See, you know he’s done the wrong thing yet you can’t say it to his face. I can understand where you are, I’ve had to hold my opinion back when my best friend bought a Hyundai i10. Absolutely awful car, it’s an 09 and he’s had multiple problems. I have gently suggested to him to upgrade to a newer i20 or i30, they are

That is a 2003 Land Rover Freelander 3 door, a compact SUV built by Land Rover between 1997 and 2005. You lot did get it, just with a shit V6 coupled to an auto. My one has a Rover 1.8 four cylinder Petrol, coupled to a five speed manual sending power to all four wheels all the time. The rear part of the roof on the
