On one hand I genuinely feel sorry for the Russian people that this was the head of state for a while. But on a purely selfish level, its absolutely hysterical and lightens up my day every time.

I’ve mentioned this before in these discussions, but while listening to some really left-leaning podcasts last year it was genuinely shocking running into the hosts/guests just chuckling away Holmes’s actions as to them it was just another Silicon Valley rich person con. It is so deeply frustrating as not only do…
Yeah, especially in an article about how she’s being sent to jail for 11 years precisely for not inventing the product she claimed to invent.
Well explaining that the Revolution was two stages and then having to bring up Kerensky and all that is something most people trip up on. I'm also very fine with not showing children repeatedly shot and stabbed and still not dying after 20 minutes. Drunk Yeltsin is always worth noting.
Calling her an "inventor" is being very generous.
Good for her!
To my understanding (only a wee’un when she died), Diana was known as being a bit dim. She only got one O-Level at school or something like that, failing all of them twice, despite top private schooling of course.
High school history failed you pretty badly if you had to Wikipedia the Bolshevik Revolution or what happened to Russia’s monarchy. I understand not knowing the finer details... but, yikes. Pretty major 20th century history there.
Yet another episode hilariously pointing out that for all of her strengths, Elizabeth is no Rhodes scholar, nor does she have the interest or intellectual capacity to become one.
The story the The Crown tells about Margaret and Townsend falls back on the news media story told at the time which was a myth. Decades afterwards, the government released papers that revealed that Elizabeth fully supported Margaret and Townsend and so did the government. The only thing asked of Margaret by the…
I disagree a little. I thought this episode was very romantic and bittersweet and did a great job at driving home just how much collateral damage comes from being Sovereign. I thought Timothy Dalton was an inspired choice for old Captain Townshend. He remains effortlessly charming. So good to see him!
I like how they gave Andrew a haircut that just screams “pervy nonce.”
“It’s NOT a documentary!”
He’s trying so hard to escape that role, and I don’t know if he can :(
or heard, at least. my god, that man must put gravel in his whiskey.
I binged season 2 in mid 2018 and couldn’t make heads or tails of what the fuck was going on and never went back.
Ed Harris was amazing all the way through and made it worth watching for me
“I love you JAMES MARSDEN COWBOY ROBOT”
AND/OR BECAME MADONNA AND DATED WEIRD AL.
I honestly stopped at the end of S2 and never looked back... tonally all over the place.
If they wanted to go on some theme of ‘humans are the real monsters’ they certainly messed it up when all robots except the assistant, yes even Maeve, turned out to be completely unrepentant human-murdering psychos. If they wanted…
