The Borderlands trailers have looked pretty bad, but if you’re struggling to understand why Cate Blanchett decided to star in an ensemble action-comedy blockbuster with Jack Black and Kevin Hart, people with a proven record in such movies, you’re not trying hard enough.

Hopefully the lesson Disney/Marvel take from this is “make better movies and tv shows” and not “don’t have women lead our movies.”  The three stars and their chemistry was by far the best thing about it.

The only way to salvage the show is to officially make it a prequel to The Expanse.

Midnight Mass was so good. Truly his best work. Hamish Linklater should’ve won the Emmy.

Unbelievable. It sounds even duller and less fun than I’d imagined, and I’d imagined a complete bore of a finale.

Laszlo the Scientist is always good fun, but I like that they kept up with his vulva-themed topiary, and of course he wanks in the shed.

I really liked Old Derfel from the books. It showed him as an old, broken down but sharp old guy. You had Sansum lording over him as opposed to being mocked. The payoff in the third book and where it ended up probably got a tear from me at the time.

Color me shocked that this apparently isn’t terrible. I watched the trailer and immediately felt let down about a show I’ve waited 25 years to see. Now I can’t wait for Sunday.

I love Bernard Cornwell. I remember devouring these novels in high school. Time to re-visit the Sharpe novels maybe.
