I just find it interesting enough to figure out/discuss what the weak link was.

Looks to me like that is the spindle/hub that is what is split, just leaving the spindle parts that mounted to the control arms. I would guess the caliper, rotor, hub and spindle are still with the wheel.

Nailed it.

And here I was thinking I would go the day without seeing a monkey's penis.

I guess you should have complained about other people suggesting it instead of suggesting it yourself. Well played captain fluffy pants, well played.

Every time I see one of these things:

Fad? No. Under developed and plagued by inherently poor emissions and mpg? Yes I'll give you that.

Max Friz, who appears to me to be the father of the BMW family of straight sixes.

I see your point, us rotary fan-boys can be really annoying. The difference for me is that Felix Wankel literally invented a new engine design, pulled it right out of his German ass. Many of the inventors you allude to stood on the shoulders of giants and simply improved an existing layout.

Dude, Captain ruffled underpants... I was joking! Surely this isn't that sore of a subject for you!

That man produced some of the best mechanical engineering porn to date, so you're just going have to roll your eyes, shut your dirty mouth and deal with it.

*Cough* Jezebel *Cough*

Dat omega sub n.

This... and you can never un-see it! Oh, well.. It still adorns both ends of my 7.

Dude, I love Teslas too, but their electric motors don't belong on an engine list.

I see where you're going here, but... Even if you could consider an electric motor an engine, one could say the things that really make the Tesla exceptional are the battery, software and related thermal/charge management systems. Without those you just have an AC motor as far as I can tell.

Although it kinda works here on the 99 spec rx-7 in a more sinister form:

I still like the 20b swapped DeLorean better. Because if you're going to have a pain in the ass car, you might as well throw the japan-sourced rotary wild card in there too!

You can absolutely have three pedals on an electric car. That's how most shade tree electric conversions are done: electric motor adapted to a MT. Not to say that is what's sold now, but it's feasible.
