Most of the hood canal is a giant oyster bed. I love this place and haven't been back in 15 years. That was pretty much my experience when I would visit. I'm a chef and we would spend each day trying to cook or prepare the oysters as many different ways as possible. It was pure heaven!

Damn you auto correct! I believe it's spelled r-u-I-n-i-n-g.

I had tickets to it but wound up vomiting all night saturday and into yesterday. So sad and I called it a couple weeks ago when my friend bought the tickets for us that if Johnny was in town that he would be there because that's just how he rolls. Needless to say I was pretty much a cry baby myself this morning when I

It is. My mom lives on a brackish creek and I crab all day and just hang out and play games with her riverside. Every year we take her little motor home out to Hatteras, which is where I am going to meet her.

My mom moved to the area about 6 years ago. I love it there. She lives a little further out of Chocowinity down Old Blounts Creek Rd. near an area called Cotton Patch Landing. Gotta love the rural areas. Though, at 44 I feel a little old for the ECU crowd...well, the cougar in me doesn't! Do you still live in the

I hear ya. I live in LA right now and still take most of my short vacations close by. You don't want to waste those precious days on sitting in an airport or in a car all day. You take full advantage of it and have a great time.

Congrats! Though, by your name, I am guessing you are from Akron...and you are going to Cleveland? I would think it would be more of a staycation:) Enjoy. I am going on a 3 week vacation this week myself to the exotic Roseburg, Oregon and then to the booming metropolis of Chocowinity, NC.

Mina, It's obvious that you have a problem with it and I guess using the "i just don't understand" statement was exactly correct. Like I stated, I don't start off a conversation with this question. It usually comes up after having spoken to the person for a while. I completely understand everything you are saying and

I have been on both sides of this type of conversation and just don't feel it offensive at all. I certainly don't start off the conversation that way, of course. I usually ask it in reference to something they might have said or eventually out of curiosity.

Agreed. I ask people if they mind me asking what their ethnic background is, not "where are you from". I personally never get offended when people ask me what my heritage is. I also don't understand how people do get offended if it is asked in a polite enough manor. I personally can't keep up with what's correct or

Oh my...How sad is it that I thought it was David Cross with a goatee?

Oh how it pains me to see it went for only $50. Right place at the right time. Thanks for sharing. I shall make this image my desktop.

I think I need that painting. Where? What? How?

Yeah, because it takes so much stamina to play bocce. Maybe in the funkin' desert? These guys have obviously never played with my girlfriends. We would put their "blue" language to shame... and don't even get me started on what happens during a rousing game of corn hole.

I think when he's Clooney's age they will be...if he hasn't married yet.

I'm a private chef and my client gets a CSA. I live in CA so it is more varied due to our climate and what can grow year round here, but the amount of lettuce they send in it every week is ridiculous, especially since only the wife likes salad. And yes, Piglet, I would be devastated if my tomatoes were bad. I'm from

No kids here, but about 3 years ago (I'm almost 44) I started having severe nausea, sometimes vomiting, and the skoots the first day of my period also. Definitely sounds hormonal and maybe something your OBGYN or a naturopath could hopefully help you with. I've also had some successful acupuncture treatment for it.

So my high school BFF's parents worked for the DEA and National Crime Prevention. My friend was on one of the first posters for DARE and one with McGruff the crime dog. While her parents were at work, we were home smoking pot and doing coke. Well, I was smoking pot...never much like speedy drugs of any sort. So, I can

Aramark? Yes, the concessions companies are pretty bad. I've been lucky in my career to have worked for mostly privately owned businesses with great benefits. Craigslist can be sketchy. I have gotten quite a few catering gigs on it though by posting my own ads. If you are interested in breaking into the private

I know your pain. Where do you live AmeliaD? Have you thought about private work? or working for an actual catering company? I have been in the biz since I was 15...I'm almost 44...and left the restaurant biz in 98 to be a private chef and caterer. Hard to break into, but so worth it. I also have worked for other
