I know the plot of the movie is very different than that run, but I wish they’d found a way to work in “He stood alone at Gjallerbru...” I’ve always thought that was one of the great “comic lit” lines, along with “Ultron. We would have words with thee.”

Sakaar really is the chaotic loony bin where Thor could never truly be at home, isn’t it? It’s not just lost and unloved things, they’re all despondent and hiding it under a festival atmosphere. Despite his surface carefree attitude, Thor can’t abandon being a hero and responsibility. Sakaar is a contrast to Asgard,

This movie really nailed Spider-Man, and the young, just staring out, high school Spider-Man. Peter Parker just wants to do right, and it’s hard work. The “moment” could just as well have been his day-in-the-life scene trying to help out around town, and getting it right maybe only 60% of the time, and his only reward

Any other movie, the pirate captain would have won back his crew’s respect after the mutiny; Yondu just kills them all. And blows up the ship.

“Groot, get out of the way, you’re going to get hurt!” *waves* “Hi!”

Jack fricking Burton.

Fear Her.

And his stubbornness; it’s the mystical “I can do this all dayeternity.”

Rickon is lesser Stark.

One of the few movies I’ve seen in 3D; worth it. The Inception-y scenes were impressive.

The argument annoys me, as well, probably because I’m such a comic book fan, and big final fights are such a trope that I’m used to them. I figure it’s like Westerns for movie critics: they can either bitch about the gunfights in general, or they can tell me why a particular gunfight fails. For me the “giant glowing

I love how they bring back Aunt May, and Tony calls her “Aunt Hottie”.

Oh, you got up from your desk because Starro the Conqueror’s starfish minions were marauding outside and the Joker had flooded the vents with purple poison gas? Fired.”

Preach.

She should probably stop screaming “You’re not my supervisor!” at casting agents.

And it was deep enough into the movie that the audience had kind of forgotten about that character tic, and it was a nice surprise. Plus, it led to “Baba Yaga!”

Mark Valley: Human Target. Although only Season 1 was good.

He was good in The Martian, too.

The family dynamics in the sequel were great, and I would have gladly watched a lot more of them.

I’m wondering if there’s going to be a new Iron Man or Captain America come the end of the month.
