Thanks for clearing that up, Salty. I usually eat at modestly-priced places, and generally have a discount of anywhere between 10 and 100%. Now I can stop using my math skills and knowledge of the industry (most of my family is or was FoH somewhere) to guess at a fair tip, and just leave 20% of my tiny bill.

That would be a false assumption, much like assuming that the $250 *person* was getting a higher hourly wage than the $10 person.

So, while everybody’s piling on this “passive-aggressive” bashing, you should stop to think about some things:
