Somewhat tangentially, I did a search on hackintoshing a laptop and found a 3 year old Lifehacker article by Adam Pash saying it's not advisable. Is that still true? It would be pretty killer to buy a (cheaper) PC laptop and install OS X on top of it. Just curious.

when, oh, when will it be free?! Actually I started paying for Plex Pass just to get this functionality and may continue doing so just to support a great product like Plex so ummm nevermind.

I keep coming back to this article and staring at your workspace. I don't do any gaming, nor do I work remotely so I don't necessarily have need for something similar. But want... Want... WANT!!

I wouldn't have said EVIL until you mentioned our beloved Reader. <tear> I still miss it. Moved to NetVibes, now on Feedly. It does the job. Just not as well.

philqb2, do you put this concoction straight into the water compartment of your carpet shampooer or is it in place of the solution that's normally separate from the water compartment?

Another advantage of the chromecast is portability. It's easy for me to take my chromecast over to my girlfriend's place, plug it in, connect on my phone and then use the plex plus or netflix or other apps to cast from my phone to her TV. I don't think that ATV or Roku, despite their small size, were designed with

I don't remember what first brought me to Lifehacker but the XBMC/HTPC/build a PC articles have proven to be the most useful for me. I still love reading the updates when they come out even if Imm not in the market for something new.

This gives me hope, haha. I'm trying to work towards this seemless setup. (I have windows XBMC rather than linux). I just recently got the HDHomeRun Prime 3-tuner with Comcast CableCard. I'm using WMC for liveTV and recording. Then I use MCEBuddy to shrink the recorded shows and drop them into my Series folders, which

With retirement and investment accounts, you can usually build-in increases to trigger automatically. I have a built-in 1% annual increase in my 401(K) deductions. Started out at 10%, now I'm at 15%. I don't even have to think about it; it just happens at the start of the year.

I searched for an Android app but nothing comes up except for a MusicBee Remote app. How does it sync to Android devices then?

Winamp's AutoTag completely messed everything on my ID3/ID3v2 fields that I'm going to have to delete everything and start from scratch. Hopefully MusicBee does teh trick better.

ohh! I didn't realize that I could take the app to a new phone (yes I'm sticking with Android). I thought I would have to re-download/re-pay when I got the new phone. Thanks!

I've been considering Unified Remote, especially since I just started using WMC for Live TV while continuing with XBMC for recorded movies and TV shows. UR's capability to handle multiple apps is very enticing. My reticence stems from not wanting to pay for the full version since I'm upgrading my phone in a couple

I'll vote for Master Forge charcoal grills. My particular model (MFJ576DNC) has a lever that lets you set the distance betwixt the coals and cooking grates so you can vary how much heat is getting to your food, which is a complaint I have of most other charcoal grills. This helps for a nice long slow cook, say for a

A quick note to add to the other comments on this thread - my indoor antenna cost $15. I get all the regular broadcast channels and a few weird others.
