I still think the issue has been that the players are never happy and that in trying to appease the players, Blizzard makes changes that are lauded then despised after a few months. The grass is ALWAYS greener in the eyes of the players and Blizard has enabled them by trying to address those complaints.

I mean as obvious as it seems to be to some folks, a lot of people seem to have completely missed that this was the actual focus of the season, not where Dolores was going to continue her murder spree.

Dolores' comment about free will being "fucking hard" was such a nice little distillation of what being human is really about. This show has always circled around the nature of humanity and I loved that one of the answers it landed on was the opportunity to make hard choices and how that's not always as appealing as

This is brilliantly stated. I was thinking yesterday morning that the entire theme of this season has been choice/agency/free will and that every character had their own struggle with it this season. This show has always been about more than good and bad so it's disappointing to see some reviewers be so reductive in

The thing is, even the pro players were advocating for these changes until they actually had to live with them as the new normal.

Your last sentence nails it. The grass is ALWAYS greener when it comes to changing the meta in the eyes of the players. But they seem to forget their complaints shortly after changes are made and instead complain about the new changes.

But do people realize all of these changes were made because people hated the old metas?

Yeah Blizz obviously had no control over the pandemic. I don’t know nearly enough about the T2 scene to have any kind of an informed opinion about what happened there.

The homestands were killing it before COVID and when they did them last year. I actually think the move to the home markets was really smart and appeared to be working based off the early results. And keep in mind they never got to host of any of the events in the Asian markets where a quarter of the league is based.

I’m an OWL stan and I hope they make it to the point of getting to do live events again.

Same. I know I’m an Overwatch stan so I’m sure that factors in here but it does seem to be completely unimpressive and uninteresting visually. Either go full realism a la CS or full fantasy a la OW. Trying to split the difference ends up in a weird space aesthetically.

My wife, who begrudgingly puts up with OWL on TV virtually all weekend, was throughly rivetted and delighted by the Hero Bans segment. It quickly went from “The matches are over, why are we still watching this” to constant giggles and outright explosive laughter.

This might seem like a crazy idea but have you checked out any esports? I am a former full season ticket holder for an NHL team and my parents have full season tickets for MLB. Sports is in my DNA. And because of that I’ve become really fond of esports like Overwatch League. Since they can play remote, esports are

I still can’t watch something like this without crying and I’m okay with that. I hope I never do.

I feel terrible for the league because I think they were really counting on those Asian homestands from a financial perspective. The domestic homestands have all been pretty electric and packed this year so I think the league is doing okay so far with this approach. It's just really unfortunate that matches in Asia

Yeah I'm struggling to see a scenario where resurrecting the Blizzard Arena is not the most expeditious path forward. Plus it will give folks like me a chance to see live Overwatch this year after having been able to check out matches the first two seasons.

Total hyperbole. I only really get to play on the weekends and changes are exceedingly rare. And it's not like you have to play comp if you don't want to deal with this.

The post on the OWL site said teams would have a week's notice about which characters will be unavailable.

Have to disagree with you. The movie is worth rewatching any time simply because of the phenomenal chemistry between Jackson, Larson, and Lynch. Add in Ben Mendolson having the time of his life as Talos and you get a movie with tons of humor and heart. I've probably seen this movie six or seven times since it came out.

I can't speak to that. I would see io9 articles about her series and how much people loved it so I gave it a shot. In fact, io9's coverage of The Visions series is what got me into reading comic books and not just being a fan of Marvel in film and TV. At least for me, that hype was instrumental in introducing me to a
