Interesting - I never worried about the guns because Teddy getting his fishing poles first seemed to be a sort of signal that this wasn't him being destructive or self-destructive. (See also: doing the dishes after he finished his steak.) So to me the whole scene read as Teddy looking around, getting the few things he

Seeing that The OC dvd over Daniel's shoulder in the middle of the episode made me laugh so hard - a relief in the middle of an episode that really put me through the wringer. I don't really have words for how I'm feeling so I'll just echo everything in the review and the comments. This show is just… superlative. In

I've heard great things about Chewing Gum & it's on my list - can't wait to dive in.

I'm so grateful that I heeded the numerous critical voices singing its praises and gave it a shot - I devoured it in one great, laughing/despairing gulp on a rainy Saturday. And now I'm basically ready to stalk Phoebe Waller-Bridge and will watch absolutely anything and everything she does going forward. What an

Will DEFINITELY be calling them "marshed mallows" from now on.

I've been soothing my anxieties by diving deep into the sci-fi tv of my adolescence: Sliders on Netflix and Stargate SG-1 on Hulu. Nothing groundbreaking (and boy oh boy the Sliders CGI has not aged well at all), but they both make pleasant only-engage-half-my-brain viewing. And it's amazing how many episodes I

Extremely enthusiastic co-sign on Rectify!

[ctrl-F "Terriers", scrolls down] Oh good, someone else with impeccable taste was here before me.

Well, if Lin gets tired of delivering exposition, at least she can have a lucrative second career as The Voice Of Clyde Enjoying Lettuce.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not a lawyer because I would definitely go for anyone who made me laugh with a super-lame "Or do you object?" line. Call me, Jackie Chan Justin!

AND A MOVIE

Best throwaway gag is the copy on the Electric Mesa brochure: "Disconnect to connect in a manmade city designed to help you get back to nature."

YES. THANK YOU.

I'm sure I'm shouting into the wind here but dammit I hate the use of flashbacks. It's wearing extremely thin and rarely adds anything to the show. Mostly it just feels like a structural conceit bolted onto the show to signal that We Are Watching A Prestige Drama. I just… need the show to relax with that. Be the show

I'm pretty sure we saw it several times in the first season, at least - but you're right that it's not often in the shot in Jimmy's house and it was certainly featured prominently during their fight.

Yes yes YES! I mean, the show (and the audience) is blessed with a number of top-notch performers and performances, so we're spoiled for choice in picking "the best," but for me Collette Wolfe was top of the heap this week. Dorothy's story in the past few weeks has felt painfully real.

I don't think I've ever had as much invested in a fictional relationship as I do in Tawney and Teddy's marriage. Like, somehow my brain has decided that if they're all right, then… everything will be all right? The whole world will be all right??? (I know this is not rational but it doesn't make it any less powerful!)

I dunno, I think this episode at least deserves to be bumped up to a B- for: a) Rufus telling Lucy to wait outside; b) Lucy brandishing the lamp as (ineffective but resolute) backup for Wyatt; c) putting Wyatt in a pink shirt and grey/pastel plaid leisure suit, which I found hilarious and strangely charming.

You make a good point.
