I can’t find it right now, but I’ve heard the dreams from food, alcohol, etc. is your body reacting to sleep being disrupted (spicy food causing heartburn, alcohol wearing off) just like if you’ve ever “dreamt” a noise and you wake up to your alarm going off.

This is also why eating before bed is a mistake. You’re putting so much food in your body right before going into a dormant state. You won’t be using any of that food for energy because you’re going to be asleep.
