Couldn't agree that many fanboys are so because they like to boast that they think they're running Linux. But at the same time, they don't even understand it! Include myself into them, because I still don't have have much idea of Android-Linux relationship.
I don't really know about actual validity of the statement, but it seems to fit the situation: Android is not Linux. Rather, its a Java engine sitting on the top of the Linux kernel. This seems to explain it.
You should also give a shot to some stuff like Shazam Encore. The Android Market's app deals made me buy many premium versions!

The problem is, you can't buy an app if its not compatible with the phone you've tied to your Google account! So, first you have to upgrade the phone and then buy them!
