I seem to almost all of them. All except Conky (never knew!), Ubuntu tweak (I like to avoid Gnome and drop directly to shell!), Guake (What's with Ctrl+Shift+T) and GNOME Do (didn't know QuickSilver either!). I have problem with Banshee, however. It syncs iDevices, really? It told me it did, then told me that it has

Okay, you said a web app! Desktop app is not an option for me. But a web app? Interesting! If you can, I'd welcome a nice guide. I didn't create a whole app ever. Although, I can modify others' to the extent that they look original! However, just the log in page would be fine!

So, is it possible to create entirely different page and feed the data from the page to Google's one and log in? No security concerns at all, any security breach is tolerable!

Hmm... I don't have an option for classes. They give us a 10 minutes break between classes, just to shift to another classroom. But, there's so much running and colliding fun in between, that, I guess, makes up for the short of break.

Is there way to customize Google apps mail log in page for users? I mean, I'm admin and want to change appearance of the login page to suit my site theme.

Oh, God! I state again, I'm not complaining at all. It was just a (true) statement. I'm not bothered about some country specific content. I enjoy the rest of the articles very well. I just fear that, if the trend continues, all the articles would become specific - limited to a particular group.

Well, we are not doing rants, neither want to offend! Its just my humble opinion that, nowadays, the articles are going a bit region specific. I guess, I'll just ignore them. But, I had a strange feeling of quality loss.

World exists outside US! Most of us don't have such carrier based phone stuff at all!

So, finally I'm up and running Arch Linux with Gnome3 on VirtualBox, after a lot of fun! Now, the problem is that Gnome works in fallback. Apparently, VirtualBox is reluctant to support 3D. But, I've seen the reports of it being working. Their workarounds didn't make difference, though. Do I need to install any

Doesn't matter at all! Apple has lost all its innovation when it gave first iPhone. There's been nothing new after it. Not even UI change. They just improve (?) hardware and add more heavy codes to software!

I really have to agree to these claims! The definition of 'best' seems to be 'closest to apple'. I just hate that. And since when carriers came into play while deciding smartphones? There isn't even concept of carrier based phones here in India! If you say phone, its assumed to me factory model, not the carrier based

Uh... why do you (or we) need tor, in the first place? This is my curiosity, not rant - although, I don't know why, but it sounds like that! I just don't understand the concept of tor. A good guide will highly be appreciated.

Windows 7 won you? Agreed (But, still on multiboot!)

God, that was really nice and helpful one! All my purpose is to learn the stuff, nothing else! So, I guess I'll start with the VirtualBox. And sorry for being unclear, but all I meant was, I am open to all other virtualisation environments. And as my university is always happy to provide me with the legal copies of

Seems that we replied simultaneously! Anyway, thanks for the really detailed description. As far as resources are concerned, I seem to have them fine. i7 with 8GB DDR3 and more than 300 GB of disk space, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce. I'm pretty familiar with VirtualBox already. The thing I'm looking for is to learn about Linux

I don't mind going through the process again and again! But again, neither do I mind triple booting my machine. I guess, I'll take the first route. Because, I'm more interested in learning. Can you suggest me how should I configure virtual machine such that I learn to find drivers and all! I mean, something which is

I'm thinking of Arch Linux after reading Arch Linux guide here at lifehacker. However, I don't want to mess up with my one and only, already dual booting laptop. Do you think virtual machine would be a good option, to learn especially, before doing the real thing? Which virtual machine?

You better be off with any Dell XPS. But again, I don't know your location. Still, those XPS 15 play nice with almost all flavours of Linux. XPS with i5 or i7 and 6GB RAM should be nice.

I'm terrified by the very idea of completely replacing Windows' default browser. Usually, I love to stick with defaults anywhere and enjoy the tight integration! And till now, I didn't miss anything with Windows Explorer. I doubt I'll ever need an alternative! But again, it might be just me.

I feel kind of weird, reading such articles on Gizmodo. I'm not flaming, but you see, once upon a time, we called it a tech blog!
