Yeah, I listened to the videos, and there is a distinct “reading from a page” vibe from this voice acting. Definitely could be better, but the exotic aspect of hearing good french (as opposed to incredible one) for a non-trained ear is very much on par with the general tone of the article.
That’s not a reason for Sony’s failure; it’s an excuse. Sony is plenty big and experienced enough to have foreseen this and tried to smooth edges before people started complaining.
