Dark souls 2 wasn’t consciously trying to make a meta-statement about itself. They were just trying to make a good game. However, even before hearing Matt talk about it, I had the feeling it was saying something about itself without necessarily intending to. That thing was largely the same as Matt’s criticism of it.

That point about fanboys/girls defending something no matter how terrible it gets is spot on for why Keza’s statement is so aggravating to them.
