This is White Feminism in a nutshell.

Adding on that those who don’t understand why this is offensive and why Cher was called out should check out the twitter feeds of the native women quoted in this article. They really should have been asked for comment on this story to begin with, but since that ship has sailed it would be a good idea to take time to

Either kinja is glitching on me or someone dismissed my comment, but either way here it is again:

One can only hope.

That isn’t the point though. What both Cher and Kaya are doing is incredibly disrespectful to indigenous people and native communities, and it would still be so even if they had both grown up on reservations and could definitively prove their ancestry. They would still be getting called out for their shit. No one is

Honestly the conflation of liberal and leftist drives me insane.

Nadia Murad having to share an event with the Bush sisters is absolutely horrifying.

Hear hear. I am sick to fucking death of corporate, capitalistic, commercialized, “lean in” White Feminism. Capitalism and real, intersectional feminism are incompatible.

This is an astounding false equivalence when you consider the relative positions of the women in question. Holy shit.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

I’m so glad that line was in TFA. It’s 100% for Carrie.

I nominate Lily Madigan and Danica Roem.

Or nah. “Whore” is a loaded, gendered term. To direct it at a woman you feel resentment toward (especially in the context of sexual jealousy) betrays a misogynistic attitude that calling her “asshole” or even (IMO) “bitch” would not have.

He most certainly was not “completely passive.” It was consensual and they both acted as the aggressor/initiator at different points.

I never said she wasn’t an asshole, only that he stalked her (showed up at her favorite bar by himself and then harassed her via text) and called her a whore because in his mind she might have moved on to someone else. That makes Hazel’s description of the character pretty damn accurate.

My point is that he’s an entitled, creepy jackass of a character, therefore Hazel’s description of the story was accurate.

Guess you missed the part at the end where he stalks her and calls her a whore huh? And the part where she’s 20 and he’s in his mid 30s.

That’s capitalism for ya.

That isn’t coming from the right. Joy regularly punches left and last week was insinuating that Bernie is a misogynist because of that old essay and a video where he supposedly asked Jane not to stand directly next to him at a podium. She said he treats his wife poorly. Jane stepped in to politely tell her off and
