Glad this got a nice review! Another Chicagoan to watch in the same vein: Jamila Woods. Her new album HEAVN is a nice companion to this and features contributions from Noname, Chance the Rapper, Saba, Kweku Collins, etc.

But at least Iggy's review was fun to read!
I love the pastoral setting (which also adds to the difficulty of the challenges, with variable humidity and so forth) and the gentle pace of the show. It was my inspiration when I re-did my own kitchen.
Yeah, Sam's one of my favorites among the new guard! With Sean back, this is extra disappointing.
That looks so fun.
Jeremih brought his mom onstage at the end to step (to R. Kelly, unfortunately), which was sweet. Miguel was really solid. He's a charismatic guy.
Also Thundercat?
The guy is from the province of ANDHRA Pradesh - the city Hyderabad, to be exact. There is more than one "Pradesh" in India, yo.
"Since men don’t experience sexism firsthand (and by sexism I mean systemic bias based on gender), it’s easier for them to intellectualize it. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve discussed sexism with men who insist on playing devil’s advocate, steering the conversation toward bizarre extenuating circumstances,…
When Keanu Reeves gives the least stilted performance in your movie, you have a problem…
Yeah, I think he was trying to play him as Russell Simmons.
That last chorus of "I Won't Share You" where he changes keys makes me swoon and then get all misty.
I feel like this should have been a Primer, so we'd have a little more discussion of influences like Gang of Four, XTC, Pylon, and A Certain Ratio.
Or A Certain Ratio - all these bands need to cut them a cheque.
Same thing happened after Boardwalk Empire finished - everyone on GoT got raises. So I imagine this is the end of Terrance Winter's relationship with HBO.
Yup. Watching the pilot of Vinyl made me so mad: "We lost one of the most beautifully-shot, well-acted shows ever for this ugly rehash of Mad Men with cheesy lip-syncing?"
Hey, is that Kansai Airport in the commercial? I remember the orange seats…
Yeah…from the opening sentence, this piece smacks of product placement. I mean, why not link to something about the Sodastream boycott, which is actually newsworthy, rather than their company website. Gross, AV Club.
I dunno, Kill Uncle's pretty anemic compared to what came before and after, but it has its own slight charms: Our Frank, Sing Your Life, Mute Witness, Driving Your Girlfriend Home, I'm the End of the Family Line.
RIP, 20th Century.
