Well I have 3 answers , in no order the intake sound of a '87 CRX si. A2 GTI 16v with a techtonics exhaust , and 12v VR6, also with a techtonics cat back , yes the pre muffler/ resonator has to be there , so it sounds correct 

My choices may be skewed a bit by the fact that they’re not supercars and to the average person look like normal cars, which does up the impressiveness factor compared to something like a Ferrari that you expect to sound amazing, but:

Haven’t been “up north” for more than 20 now - but lived off a Philly area exit in NJ. And have to say NJ Turnpike rest stops are VERY nice in comparison to just about anywhere else.
