To me its like every other Automotive subculture of our love of cars. Some people love stance’d cars, others muscle cars that only go fast in a straight line, some like weird Kei cars, etc... its another niche that has appeal to the right people. I was 18 when the movie came out and got the joke about using a DeLorean

If I had $26K and was looking for something super unique and iconic, then I’d be in. Though my only condition would be to finish the carb work. All the other things are nits and nats and don’t bother me.

I will grant you the first on the shore with its looks, but it was an interminably boring car after the initial wow of its different looks.

I would agree and double down on anything from that basic platform of that era that helped revive Chrysler. Girl I was dating back then had a Horizon and her parents each had a K Car. At the time I had a Mk II GTi.  Fit and finish between the two hatchbacks were miles apart. I won’t compare driving because the GTi was

I’ll admit it gives me a Euro Ford Sierra vibe, but its an imitator not the original! LOL  Having driven both I absolutely know which was the better car!

that was somewhat rare and unusual option back then and wasn’t quite the AWD we know today.

blue velour interior? or material?

ugh! My first car in 83 was a 76 Capri.  I’m happy I got the used Ford not the new Ford!

Escort was their “World Car” and woulda been cheaper for sure too.

I will give you that the first gen is a better looker than later gen’s.  I’ll even venture it had more of a Euro inspired look to it.  Manual back then would always be far more fun than the Auto’s for sure.

My buddy had his hand me down from his older sister’s Maverick (which was previously their parents) and he beat the snot out of it. It was an utter POS otherwise but it was never boring when at the hands of my buddy.

I recall that one of the contractor’s cars had poor alignment and duly handled even worse than the others. But there were numerous things not right with these cars and they didn’t have but say 20-30K on the clock. Even the ones with the good suspension suffered from torque steer to the point they wanted to dart across

Factory paint, fade provided by sun and lack of washing by the looks.

Ford Tempo. Most of you probably never drove one let alone heard of one. But they were the Jan Brady of Ford’s lineup. You either got an Escort (really basic car) or you got the family car, the Taurus. The Tempo filled a small niche.

Don’t forget the chem trails man, the chem trails...

I’ve been using (necklace type) BT noise canceling ear buds too. Find them to be an excellent choice. Lately they’ve been failing due to usage and wear so I’ve tried my apple airpods pro. They work nearly as well for straight up listening to music and/or gps directions from either my phone or my Zumo GPS unit. They

As a current Audi S5 Coupe owner, I’d say get an S5 Convertible. Quattro, amazing heat from the seats and the HVAC and its an S. Don’t want to spend that much coin, go for the non S with the 2.0 and still get the gorgeous looking car.

All excellent points. Clarity on point #5, if unsure look it up in the owner’s manual or google.

Perception is their biggest problem:

I love the Paso’s. I wanted to buy a new then 93 907ie Paso but they stopped selling them in the US and they launched the Monster which I fell in love with and promptly bought.
