This game is a ton of fun. You should go buy it.

I second that. This game is fantastic. I slept on it because of Avengers as well (and also because Endgame made me really hate Chris Pratts Star Lord so I was kinda sour on the GotG) and I’m glad I picked it up in the end. These days I don’t finish most games I play, but this one made me want to keep going right up

Yeah this has Hollywood Accounting written all over it. The thing is I’m not sure to whose benefit it’s for, considering statements like this serve to only create a track record image to investors that Square Enix is a bad company who can’t make a hit. This feels like a The Producers scam that I’m not seeing the angle

I don’t speak for everyone so I just have the sample size of people I talked to but every marketing attempt for the game just seemed very bland and generic. From the art direction and how the trailers were cut. And the amount of long/bad trailers we got every time they decided to show the game. Showing the same thing

... you ever get the feeling that “below expectations” involves the same kind of magical math that makes the most successful films of all time never be profitable, except for the fact that all the suits get all the money from them?

The Guardians of the Galaxy was so damn good. Just a solid & incredibly enjoyable single player experience coupled with some all-time great character writing. Haven’t felt that satisfied completing a game in ages, but I put down the controller and sighed in contentment. More games that do that, please. If you haven’t

They have no one to blame but themselves. They fucked up Avengers, and people took one look at Guardians and said “no thanks” (myself included).

I’m still annoyed at the text. It wouldn’t look so out of place if the numbers didn’t look just fine next to those tiny little squished names. The whole point (at least to me) of presenting the game in this style is to provide as much of a classic experience as possible, and changing up the text, something you spend a

The weirdest thing to me is one screenshot showing the Opera House scene apparently *is* getting the HD-2D treatment. Might be a one-off thing! Kinda hope a couple other moments get it, or it’ll just be even weirder.

I say give them a year after FF6 is released before the console releases are announced. I think they want to get everything working properly on one platform and bugs fixed beforehand, but it’s gotta be inevitable.

I’ll bet any amount of money that we are right around the corner of a “FINAL FANTASY PIXEL REMASTER BUNDLE” for consoles. It is really weird that they are opting to not have digital releases there though.

I would agree that seeing Live A Live’s remake makes me really wonder why Final Fantasy of all franchises was not

It’s still wild that these games aren’t on console. It’s also wild that they haven’t been available on basically every platform for years. It’s extra wild that they haven’t fixed the font (because it seems like the lowest of low-hanging fruit).

Two things to remember: suplex the train and always, ALWAYS wait for Shadow!

Nothing hurts me more than Square losing the original, high-res backgrounds for Final Fantasy IX - there's a handful people have managed to find and they are GORGEOUS, and it kills me we'll be stuck with the PS1-compressed ones forever more. (The AI upscale mod looks nice, but I feel like AI trying to reconstruct

Yeah, I’m still confused how Square lost the source codes for all their games pre Enix merger. I know that Square moved into Enix’s offices but it’s completely baffling that they didn’t save one SGI computer and backups of their previous games.

If you recall, the cell was technologically pretty cool but a pain in the ass to develop for because its architecture differed so much from everything else.

Yay, no slideshow.

...or just that the first Uncharted games took inspiration from the earlier Tomb Raider games, and then the Tomb Raider relaunch took inspiration from earlier Uncharted games?

My wife’s reaction:

Is so odd how Uncharted 1 seemed to copy Tomb Raider and then the last 3 TR games seemed to copy more Uncharted, is like a snake biting its tail.
