> To complain that the higher res character models stick out on the background, like, okay but the alternative is to have lower res character models?

I’m not yet convinced these backgrounds haven’t been (poorly) AI upscaled, since that was my first thought when the port was announced. Simply blurring SD backgrounds isn’t going to make them look like the screenshots.

Viper, Zoah, Norris, and Leah would like a word. Also Poshul is a good early game character.

“Objectively not a good game”, he says subjectively.

CC is my favorite game of all time, tied with CT, but even I have to admit the plot presentation is a giant mess. It has so much potential, and yet because of schedule overruns the final major revelations are relegated to text dumps before the final battle. What a shame. It is lovely though. Just isn’t executed how it

Chrono Cross is a true sequel to Chrono Trigger. No, it’s not a direct follow-up with Crono and crew. But it has a stronger connection than meets the eye at first, which all becomes very apparent by the end. I get that some people don’t like that, but that doesn’t make it less of a sequel.

Right, present an add-on menu sort of option. People would pay if the library warrants it.

As a reminder, a delay of a few months (assuming the aspirational release window was Q4 2022) is better than the crunch. Good on Nintendo.

It’s great. The “It’s too easy” critique is odd to me because Kirby has never been the same type of game as Mario or Yoshi or Donkey Kong. Kirby’s never really been about complex platforming and puzzles. Kirby’s about…being Kirby and eating stuff and powering your way through obstacles. This game does exactly that in

Nothing has convinced me this isn’t the case in Kirby Super Star.

This is the real crime. Why on earth did Sony drop this feature across gens? Whose brain dead idea was that?

Lack of foresight was huge. But back then, who could blame them? In fact iirc software in general--not just games--suffered from this. Things weren’t backed up because it rarely crossed anyone’s mind why it would be necessary.

My life was better before I learned of the FF9 hi-res backgrounds. Truly a shame.

It’s not just a Square/Enix issue. This was a gaming industry problem in general. Stuff just wasn’t carefully preserved, due to money, not being part of the culture, and lack of foresight. Hell, my buddy reminded me of a Mass Effect DLC that I guess isn’t included on the latest re-release because they lost the code!

Yeah, the 1.5+2.5 collection was the first time KH was on an XBox system. Last gen XBox was also more powerful than the switch.

Fair, “emulator” is probably too strong. SE certainly didn’t make a PS3 emulator. More like, a cell stub layer that emulates what processes the software needs and nothing more. This is exactly why we don’t see more PS3 titles brought to PS4/5: even this is probably too labor/technical intensive.

I just made a long post on this, but the collections are running in a PS3 emulator that the Switch probably can’t handle.

“Why is the Switch version on the cloud? Why can’t they just port them? Aren’t they PS2 games?”

This is a rollercoaster of a headline.

Kirby games always begin with this cute little guy just going out for the day, and always end with him taking down some absolute eldritch horror. The final battle of Triple Deluxe is *wild*.
