See, I didn’t see it that way at all (and I repeat, CT is my tied favorite game ever). I thought those nods took an interesting look at some of the outstanding questions from the first game. There’s also a strong implication that the ending fixes everything.

Or machine learning tricks, which have been a thing with fan mods for years.

They show it in the trailer. When you touch an enemy it doesn’t initiate a battle.

Looks like the models and backgrounds have been HD’d. And it says it’s an enhanced soundtrack too.

Basically at each star level there’s a cap on how many additional stat boosts you can get with random battles. So you *can* grind but only to a point.

Rumors had been brewing but I didn’t believe them.

Chrono Trigger and Cross are my two favorite games of all time. CC is a sequel that was made when SE had a new audience (thanks to the PSX and FF7) and wanted to make a CT follow-up without alienating them. The result is a game that feels very different and yet oddly familiar, and the familiarity only grows as the

Looks like it’s just a visual (and audio?!) remaster, so we’re good.

OH MY GOD IT WAS REAL. There were rumors, but I kept my distance because I didn’t want to be disappointed but OH MY GOD.

People don’t realize double letters are used as the example in the tutorial. Does no one read instructions anymore?! Ha.

It’s literally all about the name/URL. Which is even more insane, especially when you consider that a) it’s just a fad (that’s not a knock, I’ve been playing daily for a month); and b) the low barrier to entry is part of the appeal. You kill (b) and let enough time pass to impact (a) and you’ve spent $1M on nothing.

Yeah he’s a scammer. But! If you prepare appropriately at a basecamp you don’t need to carry around crafting materials, so that frees up space in your satchel for things you discover on the go.

Not Candy Crush! It doesn’t even have ray tracing!

I’ve been wondering this about cameras for years. I hate playing a modern game with a trash camera; how is that not a common library these days?

This all makes me very anxious. My entire life I’ve judged games based on fun and the narrative and the challenges and the art and how they control and how holistically finished they feel. Little did I know I was doing it all wrong, and I should instead have focused on puddles and trees and a character’s climbing

Bah, Navi was fine. The hate is overblown. Reminder that she never actually says “HEY, LISTEN!” on repeat. It’s just “HEY”; the “LISTEN” is what she says after you actually listen. Anyway, I loved the Z-targeting info on enemies.

Sure it’s smoother, but I just feel like big blocky graphics are supposed to come with big blocky motions. And when big blocky graphics come with super smooth motions, I get distracted by how lacking the big blocky graphics feel.

This is how fads work. You come upon the right thing at the right time and boom.

This is surprisingly wholesome.

Ah. So this is how cops get fired. Fascinating.
