I don’t think they’re for the same audiences. The DP remakes look as bare-bones as possible, so they’re clearly aimed at (older) fans who grew up with the originals. Arceus, however, is the headlining major release aimed at everyone.

Gamefreak outsourced the DP remakes, so they can give the millennials our nostalgia while working on the next major series installment.

Oh absolutely, that is definitely the effect OoT (and MM) 3D have. In part because the new models look more like the official artwork, so our brain tricks us into thinking that’s how the original games looked too (they did not!)

Yes, exactly! It also made the whole bit about being for both fans of the original and newcomers a lie, since the ending and overarching plot twist make no sense if you don’t know the original.
