Yes. My husband got shit at work for taking his two weeks of vacation time to stay home with our newborn. It wasn’t that he took the vacation time, it was the reason. Total and complete bullshit.
Why would he have cared? By all accounts he was possessed of a single-minded focus on his career and comedy—which was never/has never been topical or dealt with any sort of social issues. His comedy may as well be called “First World Problems Humor”.

To be fair, it’s still a foreign concept in American culture to a great extent. Men are raised to believe that they shouldn’t expect paternity leave and that their job is to make money while not seeing their kids very much because of it.
