Turns out, well informed people actually did study the issue and conclude the re-introducing hunting did in fact lead to the return of White Rhino. So you can quit being suspicious of the claim.

So you are a qualified wildlife biologist? A PhD in English Language Studies does not a wildlife scientist make.
Not only did I read your only source in this whole argument, I understand that your “2%-5%” came from just that one source. You haven’t cited anything else.
Where implemented, the same model also led to the resurgence of elephants and big cats. It is not an anomaly. It is a method of leading people away from using their land for farming and ranching and instead keeping it for wildlife.
Your own evidence is just one dudes opinion, not factually sound. I also posted an actual scientific paper which you dismissed out of hand due to your inability to comprehend it.
And you are qualified? Because, again, your source is quoted in a CNN article and just one guy. You haven’t elevated his expertise at all above my source, who is also the head of a major conservation group. You haven't provided any scientific dispute to what my sources are saying, you merely keep quoting the same dude…
Why turn people’s villages into tourist traps? The hunters pay significant funds to locals who then turn around and buy things they need.
Of course there would be a spin off. If there is one thing a studio can do, its milk something to death.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! So fuck the local Africans then? And tourism has not replaced the income lost from hunters. And indeed, tourism and hunting can and do exist side by side, providing MULTIPLE income streams.
But it certainly makes them better informed and better at it. Managed hunts and conservation have brought back animals from the brink of extinction. Where as in places where hunting has been banned, animal populations actually decreased:
Again, you dismiss my sources for yours. And it was the Oxford team who REINTRODUCED HUNTING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Nope. Bans on trophy hunting in these countries COINCIDED with a rapid loss of wildlife, which MAY be caused by the removal of incentives, but such causative connections are pretty hard to prove. Even then, the fact that hunting is banned in no way implies a decrease in incentives, it merely implies that one incentive…
You are wrong and you can’t back up what you just said. The people who are getting paid to guide these hunts ARE locals. And the article you are dismissing cites its sources and its point extensively.
They do, actually. The Wildlife Conservation Unit at Oxford overseas and has managed hunts since they re-opened them in 2009. Not in the park itself but in areas outside it was entirely legal until Cecil died.
It’s “womens empowerement” because it convinces women to give other women their money for something women do not need.
Did anyone else see the bro-hug between Scott Walker and Ben Carson at the end? And then when Scott Walker was nodding along to Ben Carson, I loved that.
Really? That I did not know.
Yet, that is exactly what is happening. The White Rhino went from less than a hundred animals in South Africa to over 11,000 since legal hunting was introduced. The amount of land reserved for game animals DOUBLED since hunting was introduced.
“Hunting as conservation is fallacy.”
To conservation. The tags directly support wildlife departments and game wardens and studies. Most all conservation groups, including the Wildlife Conservation Unit at Oxford (the organization that was tracking Cecil) support hunting as a means of conservation.
