Does anyone know of a way to control these via a home automation platform such as SmartThings or openHAB? I’m guessing the controller sends commands over RF, but it would be cool if there was a 3rd-party version that you could connect to over Zigbee/Z-Wave/Wifi.

Next time, try a SpinChill (http://www.spinchill.com/) along with the more traditional methods. Supposedly it uses Science! to chill drinks in just a minute or two.

In both places the code is given, it is hard to see: it’s in a small and light-colored font (and not even mentioned in the main body text of the article). Thanks for letting me know it was there - I missed it too.

There’s a trick to saving 5% with Subscribe and Save AND getting free 2-day shipping: add the item to your cart without S&S, and at checkout there will be a box under the shipping options that allows you to “Add a subscription” and save 5%. Doing so will not change your selected shipping method.

Since I wrote that reply, things have gotten significantly better in the iOS world for KeePass users: I now use MiniKeePass, which supports the KeePass 2.x (.kdbx) file type. Even better, it works with iOS' "open in" feature, so I can simply find my KeePass file in Dropbox and choose "open in" to get it into

That's a great suggestion, except that Pocket is where unread links go to die (at least for me)... I'm hoping I can still salvage my Twitter favorites list lol.

This is pretty great. If only it would show links from starred tweets only... that's my "need to read" list.

I did this, but found a way to checkout without having to share anywhere. On the side of the checkout page, click into the last name text field and hit "enter".

You guys are hurting my making brain pain hurt.

Robert,

thanks for the clarification!

The title of this article has me confused: is Apple selling songs at a lower bitrate (but similar or better quality) or are they the same bitrate (but higher quality) than is normally found on the iTunes store?

LOGMEIN!

if you own any domains, you could utilize a dynamic DNS service (either run a client on your iMac, or a script on your router) to keep example.com pointed at your public IP address. Then you can point your iPhone to example.com and never have to worry about what your public IP address is.

If you want the ability to concurrently edit documents, Google Docs is your best bet. For general sharing of files, I love Dropbox. You could even let everyone get their own Dropbox account and then have a community ("shared") folder that everyone has access to inside their own Dropbox.

I wasn't suggesting that the first option would actually result in a better-quality file. The second option was what I am curious about, since being able to upload a low-bitrate file and trade it out for a higher-bitrate file of the same song (provided to Google by a music company or something) would be amazing.

Barring an unforeseeable catastrophe, you can always restore the phone to "un-jailbreak" it, and thus not lose your warranty.
