What’s remarkable is how well the effects of Star Wars hold up against those of the present day. ILM were really ahead of their time, pushing the envelope for SFX so far that nothing today beats them.

The second the bluray leaked, I knew it was a matter of hours before these youtubers/vimeoers would jump on it to feed their copyright-raping channels.
Where do you think we are, io9?
There has definitely been a change over the last six months, most noticeable in the last three. I know there was the merger and all. I’m just not sure how to put my finger on what is actually different.
It was. There’s a certain level of snark here now that wasn’t prior to the merger.
Seriously, there have been A LOT of old movie reviews on io9 lately, ranging from “this movie is still amazing” to “this was the worst thing ever,” but yeah we can’t get more than a blurb on the good shows everyone on this site watches. Has Gizmodo been bought by out-of-touch studio execs?
Giz09! The merger you deserved but not the merger you need...
But am I wrong? I think it was a fair comment.
So let me get this straight: you all don’t review new episodes of shows that we all watch now, but you’ll waste time and space writing up reviews of old shitty movies.
Okay I’m interested at looking at the original research, let me click the link to it. There is no link here. Okay I will go to Wired. Wired doesn’t like my adblocker. Okay. Okay there is no original research link: the research results are just these two images.
Ummm. Look, TFA is REALLY similar to ANH, for good and bad, but this is a terrible, terrible “proof” of that. That Poe is Luke and Rey is Vader shows how completely ridiculous the algorithm is and how worthless the results. But, you know, it’s got spring graphs, so...science?
+1 but tomorrow I will give it a -4.
Not to be insensitive, but haven't a lot of people presented this theory?
FUCKING THANK YOU. Hardwick is a nice guy and seems genuine, but he’s the Ryan Seacrest of the nerd world: he’s completely harmless and harmlessly handsome. He’s not really much of a thinker and more of a cheerleader, which is cool and I think we need him, but we could stand to have some different voices in the mix.
I like Paul Rudd...
The real question isn’t why is Talking dead popular. The real question is what is everyone’s hard on for Chris Hardwick?
Was for...can’t you feel the winds of change since the io9-Gizmodo merger... :/ but word, that IS what io9 is for!
Kanye seems to thing that someone not liking what he said and expressing that opinion is censorship. Which, no.
I try. I try so hard with Kanye, because I think some of the shit that is rained down on him has at least a little to do with the color of his skin, but good lord that man is a full-fledged man-child asshole. It’s like performance art at this point, but really bad performance art where the guy stands in the middle of…
