Mattis’ foreign policy would definitely be aggressive, but he’s never displayed the kind of mindless hawkishness that dominated the Bush 2.0 WH. I don’t doubt he wouldn’t use force more freely than say Obama (though perhaps not Clinton) but he wouldn’t plunge us into pointless wars with no idea of resolution.
