I really should have said anything “American” in the early 80s and it wasn’t just the 80s either. Somewhat before (but definitely as of) 1976 and probably all the way up to the early 90s, many vehicles were produced with something called a “California Emissions Package.”

Have you driven anything from the early 80's? A bunch of automakers were essentially producing two different versions of the same vehicle just so that they could sell them in California and they were VERY different. Unless certain manufacturers think they want to give up the CA market, they will make different

That just means you’ve made it. I mean, Sauber doesn’t get any special treatment and everybody loves them.

It seems like you didn’t actually read my post. You’re right, maybe local agencies shouldn’t be in charge of handing out these permits, that’s not deregulation’s fault. Also, let’s not act like this is simply a Texas problem, although other commenters seem to have already taken you to task over that.

This is a good piece, and I like that you reported on the GAO report. However, I take issue with you blaming “deregulation” for the ease of procuring this stuff. Deputizing a local agency in not a symptom of deregulation. The rules that the authorities are trying to enforce are what should be improved and focused on.

Damn Freddy, watch out. These opinions ain’t so popular ‘round these parts.

Also, look at the area in front of the side pods. It looks like they have a looped portion right in front of the intake. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

The European powers went along with it, over the objections of the other European power that they were actually taking from. Do you not see how that is a problem? Hitler actually did “take” the Sudetenland. He literally moved people into the area to make it more “German”, Czech authorities were not able to stop it and

I’m sorry, but fucking what? That’s not how international politics works at all. You don’t just get to take what is “yours.” This is how nation-states get into fights! By acting like spoiled children simply because they want something. Crimea was not Russian. It was not going to be Russian unless Ukraine gave it to

Less rear wing, yayyyyyyyy. This means less wake off the back of the cars.

Dear god, trigger warning! I had a Rochester 4 barrel on my truck that never EVER stayed properly set up. Pretty sure the electric choke just decided if it was going to come into work some days.

I think he shows a relatively typical theme in his articles of someone who wholeheartedly and unquestioningly believes in the “dependency theory” school of international relations. Essentially, The United States and other countries that developed first have purposely exploited and held back slower developing

It also appeals to those who are adherents to dependency theory (not sure if you’re familiar with that or are interested in international relations at all) and other individuals who have a reflexively myopic view of any international involement by the US.

I’d like to see your source regarding the 200 mile EEZ claim for these islands. Additionally, the guano islands you are referring to are in large part, not disputed nor are they located in major international shipping lanes like what is in the South China Sea. I’d agree that some of their legitimacy is questionable

The union does in most cases. It’s their way of reducing free-ridership.

This is Terrell’s way though, if we’re involved in any way whatsoever, we must be at fault or a bad actor. Whereas other countries, they’re all good, man!

Also, is he really good on Russia? I mean, his understanding of international politics seems emotional at best and juvenile at worst.

I think that’s my issue with him. In my opinion, granted, it’s opinion, we all have one, emotion has no place in military reporting or political reporting. We all get worked up, jimmies get rustled and no one thinks about how things are actually meant to be worked out.

Used to be anyway. This particular author has seemed on multiple occasions to be in way over his head. His conclusions here I think show that as well, but at least he’s writing about it.

Yeah, brother!
