Compared to the minivan it replaced...  it feels like a Corvette :)

It takes two, as they say. But yes, we have had a couple fly the nest, so we were recently able to downsize. It felt weird not even having an “emergency” third row, but it’s sooooo much fun to drive compared to everything else we’ve been stuck with the last 18 years.

Well you’re right on that, I’ve totally overlooked the towing part. Even “light towing”, I’d probably want a midsize not a compact.

In his defense, it says he only owes $5K. Appears he will have a nice down payment at least.

I’d pass on the used Germans, but Genesis is a nice idea. I thought of this as well, but suggested RDX for a bigger cabin and cargo area. (And because I’m a shameless fanboy of my own car.)

I humbly suggest my own car... Acura RDX. Fully loaded is way under budget, low $50s. Genuinely fun to drive. If you have very much fun, the gas mileage isn’t great (I’m getting high teens), but on the highway it’ll be fine. Deceptively roomy back seat and rear storage. Nimbler in traffic and tight parking lots than

I thought Dodges were for building credit?

I can live with 250-300 mile range on an ICE car because refueling takes 5 minutes.  I know we need early adapters and God love ‘em.  But a lot of people can’t sign up until super fast charging or battery swapping is more common.

I hear some poor chumps in big cities live in tiny apartments and don’t have their own garages. If I was going to have to take my car to a charging station and wait for half an hour, you better believe I’m not going electric until I’m sure I can make it a couple weeks on a charge.

Can attest to lousy mpg. 17 mpg on my 2015 4.0. I’ve seen almost 20 a couple times, but most of my long trips are 75 mph+ and so... still 17-18.

Just a little more back seat space would be great. I love that I can fit my 2015 in the garage, and it’s never not been enough bed space or towing capacity for my needs. Definitely do not want a significantly bigger truck. But an inch or two extra leg room in the back would make teen+ passengers way more comfortable.

164,000 miles means what, at least $5-7K to your independent Benz guy to get it sorted? I think I’d rather have a number of other (prettier and simpler) fast cars for the $15K all in.

IOW...  it’s not a vaccine

Dang, 100K miles... I think I’d rather spend the $40K (that is, $22.5 for the car and $17.5 for the mechanic) on a nice used Lexus LS.  Which is boring and anonymous, I know.  But real luxury is a car that starts every morning.

Too bad we already tinted those windows for $1800, not gonna be able to take that off.  But tell ya hwat, I’ll throw it in for free.

There might only be one car I hate more than the EcoSport, and that is the Mirage.

Ok so what’s the story? There are no cars and people are paying over MSRP, or there are so many cars that Ford is offering rebates?

“shortage of workers”...  if only there was something that could be done to shift that demand curve...

Who doesn’t want to pick up their kids from school in a used Rolls or Bentley? I know why they’re so cheap, but it’s a strong temptation.

I get the less-than-full-sized truck love. But that’s too many miles on anything without a Toyota badge. He’s priced it as a Tacoma with half as many miles.  Diesel doesn’t make up for that.
