How many of these “pro life” republicans are totally cool with people dying of COVID as long as the economy is okay?

Right - like even if you add them all together it’s still not enough to give everyone a million. It’s damn difficult to be THIS wrong, but I find a lot of humans don’t understand numbers over a million very well.

This compliant is so tiring.

Although they are basing it on 2019 or 2018 returns, this actually impacts 2020, so you’d actually get a $500 credit when you file your 2020 return if I’m understanding this right.

We are so screwed.

Yeah it’s pretty clear he understands the gravity of the situation at least in that moment. Something the current idiot isn’t capable of.

Is that THE moment he was told? I knew he was reading to kids and that looks like a classroom. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this picture though.

Thanks for confirming my point.

The fact that most of society can’t seem to grasp both of these concepts at the same time is why we are not very good at this. We’ve been trained to think exactly opposite of this.

It’s tough to tell. Other Miller-written speeches that we’ve actually gotten the transcripts of seem to be written in Trump’s “voice” as well.

Ok, fair enough - I did miss that if that was your point. So is your argument that the government shouldn’t help monetarily at all? Curious - what is the number you’d be comfortable with?

98% survival rate sounds pretty good! Until you actually think about what that means. If a 100,000 people get it and 2,000 die, ok that’s bad but maybe not an 8 billion dollar crisis. If everyone in the US gets it - you are talking 5 million or more deaths, that number starts to look more reasonable.

Thats..... not at all what this data says.

People will like get “Eid Mubarak” yard signs for the benefit of neighbors that they’re afraid to talk to.

Pharmaceuticals for one (and you mentioned that one). Homes (building codes), Vehicles (have to be registered).

By the way - the second link shows that only 6.4% of firearms were stolen. A reminder that stolen and purchased privately are two different things. The first link does not appear to separate them out at all but simply says they didn’t own the gun they used which is not the same as stolen.

Thanks for the links. I can think of a few things that are more highly regulated than guns other than pharmaceuticals, but I think your point still stands and seems pointless to debate our opinions of the word heavily.

That is why most guns used in crimes are stolen.

You are welcome. If you want to really dive in to overton window stuff- check out the latest series of articles on waitbutwhy.com. (I only recently discovered the term myself through that series of articles). And I apologize if my original reply came off as snarky or dismissive. We are very much on the same page. We

I agree with you on your first paragraph and your overall argument makes sense, but my struggle is that it’s not the ONLY way to think about it. Yet - it seems that what you are saying is the general consensus - that Dems need to court conservative votes to win. This seems to be based on the (i think incorrect)
