I think holding people to a standard on an electronic device that auto corrects spelling is fair enough.
It’s not the occasional typo on a blog (and this is not some random blog that a teenager is banging it in a basement, but a multimillion dollar concern), but rather the attitude that “It’s OK. It’s not hurting anyone. I can still understand what’s written.” as the standard which you are ready and willing to accept.

Free and supported by ads, just as NBC or CNN are. Sorry, but I hold them to a higher standard than a monkey bashing out random letters on a keyboard, and I hold the Gawker sites to the same standard.
For chrissakes, they could run in it through a word processing program that would weed out mistakes like this. No one is suggesting that they hire a dedicated PERSON to spell check their articles.
Spelling words correctly is not some high journalistic standard. It’s a 5th grade composition class standard.
