I think this glosses over the whole part of the movie where Jerry gets called out by Rod for being an asshole (“shoplifting the pooty!”). The movie is very clear that he’s a bit of a child and that he’s being unfair to Dorothy.
GMG sites seem to do this a lot. They will pan a movie or show for having “bad” characters, despite them not being sold as heroes. It’s very odd to me.

FWIW, Kobe is a very intelligent, well-read guy. Not that it changes anything about the events that transpired, but he’s not a stereotypical athlete who would be incapable of saying something intelligent.
And in cases like this, the reporters are almost always correct, given that they dont really have a vested interest in this sort of story, unlike say, Sean Miller and the University of Arizona.
