I get what you’re saying. The only reason I brought that up (again, so little info here to really make any definitive judgement) is because friends I knew growing up who had similar things happen were pretty much never blameless. Some of their parents (dads in particular) were jerks at times, but in hindsight I really

I agree with 99.9% of what you’re saying across your various posts. I would make one tiny disagreement with your final point. While from what was presented above, the dad does indeed sound like a bit of a jerk, I think there are a few additional ancillary benefits associated with the sports route over the video game

I got you. Like I said, that timeline aspect to the term “fake news” was my only point.

How is that the decision/choice? How does firing him without cause result in more games won?

A lot of people want to ignore that the with cause/without cause distinction is a big deal. Also, if they can’t prove it, it’s not exactly prudent for them to say “we fired him for sexual harassment” on his way out the door.

Nah, carrying on an affair would be a MAJOR distraction from football. We’re talking about the guy who allows himself like 30 seconds of happiness following a title win.

Yea, also these stories are a one-sided blurb. Maybe their parents told them to mow the lawn for the 40th time and the kid wouldn’t get off their ass/computer?

While what you say has some validity, there are many more residual benefits associated with playing traditional sports as a youth and into higher levels (teamwork, stamina, resiliency, networking benefits, physical fitness, etc.).

Tbf the other way, though, said site insists on being shared on the front page of Deadspin (which may or may not be sports-focused at this point).

A little silly to intentionally use the under renovation image, no?

I’m chalking it up to him wanted to be a media mogul like Rupert Murdoch. He run’s as a Republican calling out the “fake news” and at the time this included Fox News.

Yea. In addition, whereas in football you have picks 1-7, this allows you to create something that is basically in between picks 1 and 2.

Can you not mail it? I understand the process for Tom, who needed his passport yesterday (literally) but if I’m renewing my Canadian passport I mail it with the paperwork etc. and two weeks later I get my passport.

I think they just like to feel smarter/superior to everyone.

“Trying to do the right thing in his mind”

Yea, I’m a bit surprised that Emma didn’t realize how much this sounds like something that would appear under the byline of someone at this family of sites. Or maybe she did, I don’t know.

No doubt. My point was that-with the timing-it’s not as simple as comparing the number to his current one-year salary. The risk/reward certainly has to factor in how close he is to his next contract. I’m not saying that I think or am sure that he’s innocent of wrongdoing, I have no clue.

“Meet me at the Temecula office”

One point of order. He is an unrestricted free agent after this season. It’s not just 5% of his salary this season, but how a trial could affect his next deal, which is likely to be his big one for his career.
