I'm reading Tam Lin by Pamela Dean, inspired by a random exchange between two AV-clubbers (don't even remember who they were) the other week. Really enjoying it so far, although I'm hesitant about the turn into fantasy territory that's apparently coming up (based on the cover and categorization).

I was so disappointed in OotP, in that it didn't have one of those fun twisty endings where all the pieces of the puzzle come together (the sixth book didn't have one either, "that was my old potions book" was the lamest reveal ever). The much-talked about prophecy turned out to be "Harry and Voldemort are destined to

Soo ugly sweater!

Dats the joke.

Meh. So why does Luke act like he finds Lorelai to be the biggest pain in the butt most of the time? He's either just posing, which makes him kind of pathetic, or he genuinely finds her really annoying and is only into her for her bod.

Looks like it's going pretty well so far, commenting wise…

Can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that Paris brought her cousin to the dance! OMG, you guys…

Is this a jab at Sims?

Well, in Rory's defence she didn't even know what a Birkins bag was. Emily was the only one who was impressed by it.

Yeah, but that time the grandparents invite the priest over is played mostly for laughs, it doesn't weird me out as much as they're clearly in the wrong.

I dont know… No parent loves the idea of their kid getting it on, but I think the normal way of dealing with it is putting it out of your mind (beyond, you know, having the Talk and everything). Lorelai seems to really dwell on it, which I find very odd.

Although David Sims correctly notes that Lorelai's own mistakes probably factor into her hand-wringing. But if that were ever to happen… there are ways you know. Just sayin…

Re: Lorelai's attitude towards Rory's love life. I always found her obsession with Rory's virginity to be really creepy. If I remember correctly they had some kind of plan for the Big Event? Yuck. I get that she wants to be a cool mom and they talk about everything but there are times when you should give your teen a

I subscribe to HBO Nordic. But I don't really enjoy watching TV on laptops or ipads, and it doesn't work with apple TV or consoles. So I'll probably still torrent season 3 of Game of Thrones.

Well, her reaction is sort of "You hated me so much that you would rather live here than at home?"

Good point! I always have the feeling that I'm supposed to find Luke more charismatic than I do, and the actor could definitely be the key factor here.

I was never a big Luke and Lorelai shipper, but I guess what ultimately really soured me on the pairing was that episode at Logan's beach house when Luke acts like a whiny child the whole time. Not that a relationship has to be perfect all the time, but… just - ugh, Luke. No.

Am I completely alone in thinking that Luke never really evolves beyond an old curmudgeon*?
