As long as MU suffers, I am pleased.

BTW, I did not bring this sign to WrestleMania, although I wish I thought of it.

Maybe Eubank, Jr. should look at going into another profession. Maybe youth hosteling, like his father.

I learned about Netball when I was in New Zealand. It is truly the strangest sport.

It’s a dumb move to by the player because it obviously puts you at risk for this happening, but I think it was also a bit of lazy refereeing by a guy who was pissed he was just bumped and shouted at.

We call it “Field Hockey” in the U.S. just for reference if this discussion comes up again. No snark in this, just giving you the American terminology.

I was going to use that as an example...but you beat me to it.

Blimey!

Reading this entire conversation I can say now without a doubt you are the most British person I have ever seen on the internet. It literally bleeds through the text!

He’s referring to this sport - in the UK and elsewhere, the hockey we here in the Western Hemisphere know and love is called “Ice Hockey”, and “Hockey” refers to field hockey.

Yes that is exactly that. In football once the keeper leaves the penalty area he just becomes a player (no use of hands, etc.). But in hockey, due to the custom equipment, the goalie is actually prohibited from crossing the center ice line (short of going to the bench which is just past it in the 2nd period), so they

Field hockey in the U.S. is typically a posh/prep school women’s sport. In my experience.

Them damn Brits is rottin’ year brains.

Both usages are accepted. I tend to use the plural a lot just out of habit: I have freelanced for years for UK outlets and they prefer the plural for organizations and teams. The thing I mostly worry about is mixing the plural and singular, because my brain is still American and sometimes defaults to singular.

I have an easy way to sort them out: ask them about marx. If they say he had good ideas o was right about anything, RUN, it is the idiot kind of socialist.

He’s a little odd, but not incredibly so. He’s very English though (his own words) and does seem largely unaware of American culture. He keeps expecting me to not get references to “obscure old British TV shows,” like Monty Python and Doctor Who. A bit odd since he lived here for four years until mid-2015 and lived

People in the US don’t realize that Socialism is supposed to be the compromise point between Capitalism and Communism.

I assume what you call actual hockey is what we call field hockey in the States then? As far as I know, that’s often the game for girls from the types of families where the boys play lacrosse. Both are more of a northeastern thing though, so as a midwesterner I may be a little out of my element.

He seemed genuinely confused when I said no and looked puzzled. We’re also in the south, where even the local Americans don’t generally have the greatest grasp of ice based sports.
