I’m collaborating with a visiting Englishman at work this week. I happen to be wearing a sweatshirt from the local hockey team today, and he asked me if it was my girlfriend’s. I have no idea why, as it’s clearly a shirt sized for an adult man. He said something about hockey being a girls’ sport over there. Not that

You’re allowed to have six players on the ice (barring penalties, of course). Generally that includes one goalie, because duh. But if a team is down by a goal (or two) near the end of a game, they’ll sometimes pull the goalie and put in an extra player who can play offense with the hope off overwhelming the other team

I am firmly in the middle ground, there are amazing socialist ideas that work(free education, health care, and social security), but they have only worked well when implemented in generally free market societies.

Basically, they wanted to get an advantage out of the situation by hook or by crook.

Pft there are plenty of western socialists who still think the USSR was a fine and dandy thing.

Well, Kiessling would have had to get up from the ground to help defend and evidently, he found it too cozy on the grass. Given current temperatures in Germany, I could think of better places to lie down, but hey, that’s why he’s a pro athlete...

Refs are 90% right here. It is defensible to argue that the free kick should have been whistled to a stop and brought back to the spot of the foul. That’s the letter of the rule and it happens in every game on a restart kick or throw-in. But it also happens in every game that throws and kicks take place somewhere

First, if Leverkusen had bothered to defend the play rather than whining about it like a bunch of crybabies maybe they wouldn’t have been quite so embarrassed at the other end. Second, the manager had no leg to stand on. Doesn’t matter what it is you think you haven’t done, if the ref says go, you have to go.

Absolutely. Not only that but the guys playing in those crappy leagues take their lead from the top divisions.

No, he wasn’t giving in to the managers sad power gestures. Did you see the way he was pointing to the turf right infront of him, as if he had the right to demand the refs face-to-face presence? The manager demanded the ref get in his face so he could vent his poorly-contained emotions.. I give the ref full credit for

Ok, German media puts the incident like this: The ref decided that there was a foul, by Kiessling on Bender, and the free kick was carried out rather quickly, a few meters away. Leverkusen then complained that it was not executed from where the foul was but further towards their side. Essentially, they thought they

I think the ref, did the right thing. There was no foul, on the other end. Not getting into a MLB type shouting match, but remaining calm and issuing his ruling for the mgr to be sent off. Only quibble I have, is that I did not see the red card being issued to the mgr or bench.

How’s that? The head official is obligated to talk to the captain who is the delegate of the manager on the field. If the captain can’t convey the explanation (or the manager won’t accept it), then what’s the head official supposed to do? Just accept the manager having a huff? I applaud the officials, here. Players,

And here I thought seeing a baby dolphin take its last gasps would be the most depressing video I saw this week

It was like watching a Rock’em Sock’em Robots match in which the operators got bored and eventually quit.

It was exactly like Alli’s goal except at half-speed agains shite defending and goalkeeping.

They are averting their eyes and trying not to look as we speak.

To be fair, anytime someone correctly merges on the highway is a magistral moment.
