Unfortunately, I don’t sport a charming, Irish brogue. I have the deep drone of a Lancashire chap. :(

You’re entirely right; there’s a diluting effect happening in English football and I’ve spotted a difference at Anfield, compared to when I first went around 15 years ago.... less people want to sing and chant, and they increasingly want to be entertained.... I can’t really blame them if they’re paying such large

Hmmm, not any more.... :/

I’d maybe get on the waiting list first before moving, unless you really like rain and shitty broadband speeds.

From a business standpoint you’re correct but it’s not like every other business and entertainment entity, thankfully. Firstly, they’ve got protesting fans in the stadium and in front of the cameras. Secondly, the fans and atmosphere are part of the ‘product’; if you bused in 45k entirely different fans then your

You have heard Rodgers’ own fairytale land that he lives in, right? The man’s a gob-shite! The fact of the matter is that he chose some players and the comittee chose others; the vast majority from each camp were shite, but the money was spent.... this wasn’t football on a shoe-string budget.

I ain’t got time to think!!.....

I’m a Liverpool fan and I sometimes get uneasy with my fellow fan’s criticisms of FSG. No doubt about it, £77 was fucking ridiculous, but they’ve listened and acted fast; something not a lot of clubs would do. They’ve always backed each manager in the transfer market and I think they often get unfairly criticised

-1 burning White House.

They’re all like that, and whilst it is crushingly depressing for the most-part, so club and sponsor combos are quite iconic. United and Sharp were synonymous for the longest time, likewise Liverpool and Carlsberg. Newcastle and Newcy Brown Ale.... there’s a big kit-culture in the UK (people looking back fondly on

They’re referred to as “kits” in the UK. I’m guessing because the shirt, shorts and socks form part of the required kit to play the game.

I don’t know, if he tried I think there’d be a certain resemblence to Saddam’s statue when it was bein torn down....

Im a fairweather NFL fan and I’m more familar with Manning the ‘Legend’, rather than actually seeing him play but it struck me just how old and battered he looked.

Bolton Wanderers are closest to where I live and I work in an office that overlooks the stadium. I’ve been to a couple of games recently and it’s the same; £25ish and half empty (though they are in shit-street at the moment financially and performance-wise).

You’ve got to appreciate the free “thing”!! :D Liverpool have three different memberships for kids!! Unbelievable...

I hate Chelsea as much as the next man, but nobody can say that Willian doesn’t look like a likable guy.

Agreed. It’s horrendous in terms of recovery (and pain too, I imagine), but other than the perhaps wincing at it, it’s not gore or anything. Eduardo’s shin bone piercing his sock... that was pretty bad!

I’ve had to look at the terms as I’ll fully admit that I didn’t know what the terms of replacing season tickets would be (I’ve never owned one and never used someone elses). Here’s LFC’s terms:

It’s just a money-spinner of the highest order. I think the Liverpool membership allows you to watch video content on the website as well.

You’re right on that (well, the English/Euro side of it at least). These clubs are old; the vast majority are older than the oldest fan is and, for the most-part at least, they’re tied to the community. History, imagery, philosophy, legacy... they all have them to some degree and they often are more that just a team;
