I actually went with a Xbox One controller, to replace my DS3. I chose it right after MS released official drivers because I wanted something with great compatibility. Basically, if a dev develops a pc title with native controller support, it's for XInput, which means the 360 and ONE are your best bets.

You can still get the Zone software client. It's what I use on my pc.

Actually, a lot of stores don't mind when I do repeat returns. I keep it to 1-3 days just so I know I'm getting something I like. It helps to actually buy something once a month. Also, that one week timer resets every time you make a return.
