It’s been awhile since I read the book, so I’m forgetting that - and I’m recalling that Tolkien did write quite a bit from her perspective. But is it not possible that her malice was not evil, but merely survival? She wasn’t actively going out in the world and enforcing her will on others.

I really don’t think this is exclusive to football players, but I’ve come to feel that criminal behavior from high level athletes is - in part - enabled by systems that coddle and protect them. Awful things like this happen at big time high school football programs, as well.

See, that’s the thing I don’t get. He’s such a high profile guy - if he’d switched to TE (which is the most common position mentioned in this regard) or whatever, and did well he’d remain extremely high profile.

I get what you’re implying on some level, but here’s why I don’t. Tebow’s biggest fan is clearly Tim Tebow. He’s an attention whore. Now, that’s not the worst thing in the world. But he’s playing a game. The whole “persecuted Christian” angle - he’s allowed that to grow. His whole game is to keep himself in the public…

I keep saying this, and I’m 99% sure it’s true. I believe that the whole persecution angle started with Tebow’s PR people, and has grown. Tebow pulls these little PR stunts like trying out for baseball now and again just to keep his public profile up.
