I defend it all the time too, but I legitimately think it's become almost underrated in the backlash that's followed. No, James Cameron can't write dialogue for shit, but the last hour and a half of that movie is ingeniously paced and plotted.

Ross is horrible but David Schwimmer was so fucking funny, man. His comic chops were unparalleled, especially in the later seasons when the writers realized that Schwimmer played legitimately unhinged lunatic way better than he ever played nerdy sad-sack.
I still think the episode where Ross and Rachel break up is the finest dramatic work Jennifer Aniston ever did. She's been such a tabloid fixture over the past 10 or so years that I forget how talented she genuinely is/was.
Now this is a fuckin trailer.
Titanic was 20 years ago and special effects have come so far since then, but I still don't know if I've seen anything quite as awe-inspiring as the last half of that movie.
I'm probably not going to see this but Zac Efron looks so overly tanned and roided out in the promos for this, it's kind of disgusting.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm really looking forward to three episodes of ridiculous Jake/Rosa shenanigans in jail before they end up back at the 9-9 like nothing's happened.
The Assad sympathizer? No thanks.
Same. As the series aged, it got progressively more overwrought and melodramatic, and the show was getting so bogged down it it. The time travel episodes (as silly as they were) brought a lot of fun and lightness back into the show. Though I kind of wish they could've left the whole Ben cheating thing out of it seeing…
I hate that I feel bad for Serena Joy. I blame Yvonne Strahovski being too talented.
I tried to like this Anne, but I discovered I'm far too attached to Megan Follows. The girl in this adaptation is very "actress-y" in that annoying precocious kid way and something about her voice/accent sounds way too modern.
Serena Joy actively contributing to her own dehumanization has to be one of my most favorite bits of characterization ever. Bitch, you did this to yourself.
I thought Emily's secret lover looked kind of like Paris Geller, tbh.
I had the exact same thought! His voice was so….modern? millenial?-sounding and instantly reminded me of every "well, actually" guy in college.
I really disliked Serena Joy when I read the book but damn, if I didn't feel a sharp jolt of sympathy for her during the Ceremony. Yvonne Strahovski is so underrated.
Sometimes the earnestness and treacly-ness of this show is a little much, but this episode got me good. I got so strangely invested in William and his mother's relationship in like ten minutes - I legit let out a muffled sob when he got to meet her again in the afterlife.
If James Earl Jones is back, then they need to get Jeremy Irons too. His voice is so iconic - my brother and I spent most of our childhoods trying to snarl like Scar.
I think what sets Norton apart is his wit. He's sharp, quick on his feet and always has the perfect quip to button up a segment. Kimmel has a little of that, but Corden and Fallon are useless. Fallon couldn't even improv for twenty seconds at the Golden Globes when his teleprompter broke without looking like a…
I haven't read the books in a while, but to me the show is much more ambiguous about whether Monty knows it's Olaf the whole time and is just bluffing him or whether he's genuinely fooled by the disguise in the parking lot. In the book, I remember the children going through a lot of "BUT IT'S OLAF!" x10000 and Monty…
I like the fact that Rebecca and Jack seem like a real couple, having dumb insignificant fights about dumb insignificant things. I don't know how Mandy and Milo make that relationship feel so warm and familiar and lived-in, but it really works for me.
