We have a family friend who got pancreatic cancer. Luckily his son is a doctor.

The same thing happened to my brother’s father-in-law. He came back from a holiday feeling like he had an ulcer, and he had died within a couple of weeks of his diagnosis. Without improved screening techniques it seems that survival rates are going to remain vanishingly low, given the lack of symptoms.

It’s very hard to get diagnosed with Stage I pancreatic cancer because that area isn’t really screened for anything and there really aren’t a ton of symptoms. And I don’t think khloe was going to let that stop her because she was desperate for someone to knock her up and probably thought getting pregnant would make him cheat a little less.

Yep. My mom died of it. She’d always had acid reflux and other stomach issues, and for the first couple months it felt like some vague weird stomach thing like she’d had before. By the time she was diagnosed, the cancer was all in her liver and stomach and abdominal wall (stage IV). She died five weeks after diagnosis.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg survived an early stage but she’s literally the only example I can think of.  And clearly, she’s not a good metric by which to judge anything since she’s clearly some kind of insane genetic anomaly or an alien or something.

Tristan has never stopped dating. He had a pregnant girlfriend when he met Khloe. He never gave a fuck. You can’t even call it cheating when he never even tried to hide it. He was waiting on Khloe to dump him.

My understanding is yes, usually the symptoms don’t present until the cancer is always late stage. I had a good friend die of pancreatic cancer, and he wasn’t symptomatic until he suddenly developed diabetes, and by then the cancer had metastasized, and he went fast. My grandpa. Diagnosed in early March (stage 4), died in May. He was 72. (this was in 1991, but little to no progress has been made on this horrific disease). 

Ovarian cancer is another one that may go for a long time with no symptoms. And when symptoms do appear, they include vague things like “feeling full”. 

I have one friend who was diagnosed with stage 1 pancreatic cancer by sheer accident. He went to the doctor for unrelated back pain and they caught it very, very early. He has survived more than five years now, which is crazy rare. He should buy lottery tickets, because his luck is unreal.

One of the reasons why pancreatic cancer is so deadly is that it’s silent. There are other cancers that are, or can be, found on the early side. Very often, by the time that pancreatic cancer is discovered, it’s at a late stage. 

I think it just doesn’t present symptoms for a long while, and when it does they are kind of ‘eh, what? maybe? I guess I’m just tired’.

I have a constant problem with strange criminals showing up and doing unwanted yard work on my front lawn.  It’s gotten to the point where I’ve had to hire a full time good guy with a rake to keep them away!

Now imagine READING that one. So painful and sad. But I totally echo those sentiments.
