Have you read Urasawa's Pluto? The same thing happens there. The "perfect" AI will not wake up because it has so much possibilities that it doesn't know what it wants to be. You have to introduce (extreme/polarizing) emotions for it to awaken.

I was one of the few people who actually watched it. Guess what, it did some scenes better than the book. Remember how flat the twist was delivered in the book? It's totally nail biting and thrilling in the movie. You should give it a chance. It also has much more interesting ideas/concepts compared to a lot of movies…

Found Ender's Game to be the better adaptation (and movie) compared to Catching Fire. At least Catching Fire didn't bore me to tears like Hunger Games did and I enjoyed the awkward washing at the river(?) scene. Still, it's not as good as people make it out to be and I was more thrilled while watching Ender's Game.…
