Former Uber/Lyft driver here. That last example is just bad math by that guy. If he only made $24, he wasn’t actually driving for the entire 3 hours. The mistake people make when calculating earnings is counting idle time waiting for a ping. You’re not working during that time, it doesn’t count.

I second this. Several times I have happily drove by the 100 foot long cab line in the Uber I waited zero minutes for. Ditto for the cab lines outside off strip casinos like Palms.

You can’t always do that depending on the airport. Dallas Ft Worth, Denver, Houston Bush are all examples of airports that are centralized in their own highway system. There is no street corner to just walk to away from the airport. I could see this working in places like Chicago Midway and Dallas Love though.
