This reminds me of the time I hosted a chess tourney at my house during the Christmas holiday. Lots of folks showed up but they just stood around near the front door talking about how great they were at the game.

I’d be pretty proud of myself if I could play Magnus Carlsen to a draw too...

This is rude and I guess an example of the hostile mob audience but I was literally just thinking how Renata was the single bright spot of NewNewNewTaku. Your pieces had that ineffable mix of a distinctive authorial voice, playful irreverence, and compelling, whimsical meanderings that for me are what make a Kotaku

This is one of those rare times where an end of series spoiler is incredibly welcome. Thank you for your service.

Ok, yeah, hated that. Ed is/sounds cute, this just comes across as grating and harsh sounding.

Someone on a different thread proposed making the character an actual AI and I think that would have really been an interesting way to go about it - you can make her as cartoony as you want, but isolate her in a way that doesn’t let the cartooniness bleed into the rest of the show. It would also be an interesting way

I cannot get over how bad the visual layering off this all is. The greenscreen and such. Thought it was just bad in the ads, but that’s really the show’s style, huh?

This is why you don’t do a 1:1 adaptation of an anime to live action. People actually defended this adaptation, and now Ed just makes everything look even worse.

Even knowing what it is, it’s somehow worse than you think it’s going to be

Not sure what I expected, but thank you. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

Woof, that is bad. Like the worst kind of fan film you see on a con channel.

Now playing

Spoilers, but folks: it’s real fucking bad! While it is a faithful translation of the Ed from the show, it also makes crystal clear why they should not have done that.

And they do that with a single driven contact patch.

I wonder what the 0-60 time that will literally kill you is.

It makes anything with an internal combustion engine seem... paltry

I think, rather than trying to use the rockets to directly increase acceleration, they’ll instead be used to increase downforce. Have the thrusters pointing upward (nozzle towards sky, exactly opposite of how a space rocket points), use them to increase downforce during the first part of the acceleration.

Oh, so it makes the same power as the R6 made when the R6 was not making power.

Not much comparison to an R6. This motor is much less powerful. I’m sure it’ll be a blast to ride. It’ll be nice to see this motor in a better chassis than what the MT offered. Plus it’s cheaper and more accessible than the R6 was. This bike is a winner as long as you aren’t expecting an R6.

The thing is, the R6 never really left. It only counted up a number and got a redesign.

Yeah, this seems more like a Ninja 650 competitor than a new R6.
