NA8 Miatas also had dummy oil pressure gauges. It was just a switch. You would either see the needle pegged for good pressure, or see it at the bottom when oil pressure went below 4psi. So basically when you’re engine is already toast.

I was JUST about to ask how it stacks up against the modern fwd sporty cars. One step ahead of me. More than I want to pay for any vehicle in this segment, but I sure do want to drive one now

No crazy swaps (yet) but the Miata is quite a ways past stock, and tracked/offroaded/rallycrossed/etc regularly. By the end of summer it should be pushing about 275hp to the wheels in a dead-reliable Borg-warner efr turbo setup, with quick spool up and tons of areas under the curve. Did I mention it’s only 2090 pounds

The shocks. If you’re building a vehicle for dunes, offroading and small jumps you need your suspension components to be overbuilt. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Ranger Raptor.

With the exception of Porsche, most likely. They really did a phenomenal job with their “big” vehicles... Head and shoulders above the rest of ze Germans

But they’re suuuuuch great platforms for... Well. Anything. It has been sad watching NA Miatas creep up in price over the last few years though

And those Fox coilovers, while definitely not bad—I had them for awhile—aren’t even in the same league as a few other high-end Miata specific suspension setups, both in the same price bracket, and much higher.

True, but you can petition to have a car allowed. This was done years ago for an NA Miata, and for a period of two years (if I recall correctly) NA Miatas were allowed by the sanctioning body.

Where do I sign up, Raph

For the money, you simply cannot get a stereo system that even comes close to touching what the manufacturers offer as an option. $3000 for the B & O system is great, when you think about the fact that you’d be out AT LEAST that much for comparable components, and then easily another $3000 in getting it all installed

Don’t mean it as a slight against you in the slightest Nick! If anything I’d love to see more articles from you!

Sad. I looked in on Sean’s current motorcycle journo gig a few weeks ago and unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have the same magic as the Jalopnik lanesplitter period did.

Nissan CrossZ SportsCoupe crossover 2.0 Liter turbo-4

Is lanesplitter going to come back at some point? Against all odds you guys managed to make the absolute best online motorcycle blog in the world practically overnight, and then.... You let it die. What gives?

Huh.... My momo Alcantara wheel was absolutely trashed within... Oh... Two months? Hard and glossy. I restored it, but it’s an incredibly involved process that took about 5 hours for the single wheel. Since then I’ve used a sparco wheel that’s 3/4 perforated leather and the top of the wheel suede. Holding up much

While it’s a major PITA, you can restore Alcantara to its former glory after it becomes hard and glossy. I’ve done it with a few momo wheels used in rally. But yeah.... Takes a good 3-4 per wheel......

Is it wrong that I was excited about the “floor mat wear” gauge?

I hope Torch does another Dartz interview soon. Those are consistently some of my favorite works of art online, especially when the owner of the company responds to all the comments

3" lift kit is under $200. As for a secure interior... Eh. You get used to leaving nothing valuable inside. Doors are always unlocked too. Trunk is secure, assuming you disconnect the trunk release in the center console

It is. Taken at the park, about 5000' up if I recall correctly
