Even I used to make fun of Detroit before I realized that my town was kinda in the same boat. Once thriving Rust Belt metropolis that's fallen on hard times and people now readily dismiss at any opportunity.

Saint For Rent is something I really need to read and so far haven't gotten around to. I really love the idea of webcomics that really embrace the technological benefits of putting comics on the Internet.

I hope you enjoy Suicide Squad. I have a feeling that movie is going to be at least as divisive as Man of Steel. Though to be honest I think the world could use more divisive blockbusters. I just wish the Internet was better at talking about them.

Image guide to webcomics? I've not heard of this at all.

Don't consider myself a longtime commenter just yet, but yeah these random posting times have been screwing me up. I hope they go back to a routine schedule soon. I'd hate to miss one of these things.

So I applied for Emerald City Comic Con yesterday and I'm gonna apply for Toronto Comic Arts Festival in the next few days. I'm gonna try to do 3 cons next year. I really need to get myself out there because I have like no exposure whatsoever. If I want to start getting more work I'm going to have to actively promote

I definitely agree. I've been catching up on reading the comic online. And what she's told me about future issues sounds great. Definitely worth it for a future pick.

People talk about how Vaughn is so much better than Millar and I feel like I've been watching different Matthew Vaughn movies.

I really liked the ending of Red Son. I wasn't thinking of it as "Oh, that's clever" though. I feel like it works so well for me because it squares with the idea that humanity is what shapes Superman. Not just his parents, not just his peers, not just his enemies, but ALL Of humanity, even the part of humanity that

Quitely's art is only made off-putting to me because of that coloring. It looks like it's bleeding radioactivity or something. I'm not sure what the intent was. It might have been to fuse some of the more striking colors of Superman's yesteryears with the more modern techniques of today. But it just doesn't work for

It's alright. I'm a weirdo who just can't get into All-Star Superman.

It has a more interesting premise at the very least. Both movie and comic are things I'm cool with never encountering again though.

I missed that metaphor too. In that context it helps CW make more sense but also makes that whole event seem even worse.

i'm of the weird opinion that the first KA is better than the movie. Not in that I think it's really any good, but in the fact that it seems to actually stick to its premise and is more committed to the follow-through. The movie tries to inject a bit more escapism and even sweetness into the mix and it rings false to

I'd love to see that panel if I can get things together somehow.

Oh yeah. I saw this posted around. I didn't even realize that was you.

I've been meaning to reread Superman: Secret Identity. But I've been wondering if that should be saved until after other possible Superman picks, if only so it doesn't make everything those other books seem like too much of a step down to many.

Now I'm trying to remember if I ran across your work before and if I may have seen the flak this thinkpiece got.

Some of the places I frequent aren't shy about having conversations like this, so I'm surprised they haven't brought it up. I'm even more surprised by the fact that a lot of outspoken black comic fans haven't said much about it either. It's not being talked around it's been almost completely missed.

I didn't even realize that was a discussion that could be had! All the places that talk about comics I hang around never even brought it up as a possibility. It was mostly about continuity and various opinions about Bendis.
