I makes more sense to use extra software to enable Windows to read drives it previously wasn't able to than to toy with hidden settings in the backup software and potentially, at your own admission, destabilizing it. That was my point from the beginning.

I'm not sure what Tuxtera has to do with this, since the hack is to allow Windows to see the Time Machine drive, correct? MacDrive has been the go-to for that for years. I use it a lot and it's never given me any problems.
